The kitties are so cute & friendly. There's alot of seating & play space. The only thing I'd mention is that alot of kids come here so it can be loud so keep that in mind if you plan to study.
Not much cats, it was disapointing on that side, but there was still cats & we loved it. My kids was thrilled
more kids then cats.. wish it was a bit more cozy less resto more cafe. Maybe just came at a bad time will try again
I am currently sitting in the cafe, have been for about 30minutes now. we have not been seen by a waiter even tho people who arrived after us in the same section have gotten their drinks. there are currently 9 people in the vestibule, when the max is four- there have been more & the number is only increasing & no one on staff gives a damn. kids are running around without parent supervision. people are waking up cats to pet & take pictures. they are crowding around the register to pet cats & ask if that is where they are supposed to order because no one is taking orders. if someone sees this before a waiter notices us- please take our order! we are next to the bookshelf.
TLDR: the people patronizing this place are just as misbehaved as the staff.
[UPDATE: While everything in this review still applies, I want to add that the banana pudding is not worth getting, & the waiting time has been entirely reduced with the STM strike in effect.]
Had a great time here. The space was big & pretty cozy, & the employees were all kind.
The cheesecake was delightful, it was sweet, but still had a nice complexity to it. The coffee was alright. They also offer savoury options for those looking for a place to have lunch.
I got lucky to be immediately greeted by a cat on my lap as soon as I settled down, & he was the sweetest little cuddlebug the whole time I was there.
The space was calm & quiet the whole time I was there. I was there for two hours after opening, & didn't have any issues with overcrowding or loud kids.
The only two concerns I have that probably keep the place from being perfect is that it seems understaffed, & could benefit from more thorough cleaning practices.
If you're fond of cats, want a yummy treat, & have realistic expectations, I think you'll have a good time. Say hi to Charlie for me!
Too many kids stressing the cats out... the employees working were so kind & nice tho! Would have been a better experience if the parents would have controlled their kids. Instead of the poor employees having to babysit the kids from doing things to the cats!
This is an adventure mainly for kids & cats lover.
You can play with the cats. It was funny that one of the cat insisted to sit on someone's laptop keyboard.
In my two visits there, there were out of stock from the menu, which is limited to start with (think about a below average coffee shop; not about a restaurant).
The services is ridiculously slow (maybe due to having a small stuff). Price are OK, considering that the visitors are supposed to fund the cats.
The number of the cats is relatively small.
Long wait in a waiting room with only three places to sit. It was about 1 p.m. midweek Mid August & crowded. I thought it was way too noisy for the cats to be comfortable.
6 or 7 cats total per the pictures on the wall, most hiding or on perches out of reach. Kids chased them nonstop & they were constantly either going under furniture or up on a perch to get away. It stressed ME out just to watch. It actually made me not want to pet the cats because I could see how stressed they were. The owner says she doesn't know how to stop it, but I never saw anyone even try say anything to the families about controlling their children. They would rather the cats be molested then to possibly offend a paying customer. The owner replies that she's very concerned about her cats, but I saw no indication of that. You can think it, but if you don't actually put anything into action, you are condoning the activities.
One 12/13 yr old pursued them for the entire 45 minutes I was dining. Whether the cats were on high platforms or running under the furniture, he was always behind them trying to pet them as they tried desperately to get away. It didn't seem to matter what the cats wanted, that boy was relentless. (This would be a good time to teach that boy that No means No. Just because you want something doesn't mean your wants outweigh the needs of the other.)
As I was cashing out, the boy was there again forcing himself on two cats that had moved to the cashier area with the hopes that there would be some protection. There wasn't. I turned to the cashier & said (when the boy wasn't looking)'That boy has been chasing those cats since I got here.' I was insincerely told'Thank you for letting us know'. I knew nothing would be done. They don't appear to care about the cats' welfare enough to ask the parents to supervise their child.
The owner replies that I don't know what I'm talking about. So she doesn't want me to believe my own eyes or my own ears?! It's replies like that, that I always take pictures.
If you really like cats, don't financially reward this Cafe with your business until they find a way that both the people & the cats can be happy.
As for the food, my grilled cheese with veggies was good. $16. Latte $5. Taxes & tip $29.
Don't go if you really like cats because it feels like they have forgotten why they opened the cafe. Unless their intention was just to use them as props to attract business.
The place is a delight. Contact with the cats really adds, especially for kids. They have a list of all the cats there & my 9yo made sure he could find them all. Food is generous, tasty & made with care. Unfortunately my cappuccino was under strength with too much milk so given the standard of places in the area, this loses a mark.
Definitely recommended for the experience, howeve
Came to visit on a weekend for some refreshing lemonade drinks. The drinks were cooling but tasted okay.
The place is quite spacious, with a few interesting decor. I like how we have information about the cats to learn more about them. However, the space did feel a little unmaintained & dusty in some corners.
*cat toys are available
*it was very noisy. The staff let the children run around, scream, & chase the cats away. It was also very distracting to have such loud customers 🙄 the kids almost spilled my drink a few times too
*the washroom stank 😒 of unmaintained cat litter. You have to hold your breath when you open the door to the washroom until you are out of it.
Overall, not a perfect experience when I visited. You'll need lots of patience when visiting the place. I wouldn't recommend the place for people who seek to play with cats while relaxing with a drink or small snack. It is quite disappointing as the space has lots of missed potential.
Love the idea, but it works better on paper than live. The cats are simply not that interested in people, because by nature, cats prefer sleeping during the day. Some parents should teach their kids to be gentle with the cats; at least, clients seems to be aware to to talk too loud so it's a pretty quiet place. The service was rather slow however, but food was good. Happy I tried, but I probably won't return.
The cats were adorable & interacted with people alot , food was amazing also! Definetly worth the price.
Note : Please do not bring your kids if they can't behave themselves , a mom had brought her 2 hellspawns & they were scaring the cats by running around the café & screeching
The Happy Cat Café is such a lovely spot-super cozy & aesthetically pleasing, with a cute & peaceful atmosphere. They have a great variety of drinks & snacks, & I got to try their bestseller, the pistachio coffee (I think that's the name), & it was genuinely delicious. The décor is beautiful, everything looks really clean, & it's clear that the cats are well taken care of & happy. They have plenty of places to rest & play, & there's even a little gift shop with cat-themed items, which was a fun touch!
One thing I'd suggest is that staff could gently remind parents to help their kids respect the cats' space. I noticed a few moments where kids were chasing the cats around, & while it's great that families can enjoy the space, it would be even better if the environment stayed calm & safe for the animals.
Overall, it's a great café experience for both cat lovers & coffee lovers alike.

Initially came here due to a 4.5 star rating but please be wary of what I noticed from my experience from this cafe that I think is worth 2:
1. The cats are almost all asleep (this makes sense because cats sleep a lot so I'm not upset at that since they looked happy) or avoid you most of the time if you try to pet them. So the little cards regarding their personalities don't really match. It doesn't also help when they're rules regarding what you can & cannot do which might not be good for kids that anticipate playing/petting with the cats.
2. The bathrooms smell like ABSOLUTE FILTH. If you have children please don't let them touch anything in the washrooms & have them wash their hands WELL.
I have many friends who own cats & I have cat sit before & never experienced this so when I was hit by a wall of cat piss & shit smell I was baffled because there wasn't any visible urine/fecal matter other than one litter box that LOOKED empty (had the litter without any cat feces in it)
3. The overall place was well lit & decorated but again, some areas/corners reeked of cat piss which leads me to believe that there's lack of proper cleaning by the employees/owners. The odour & sanitation can be worked on considering this place serves full on dishes.
4. I ordered a pistachio iced latte which had ALOT of ice in it in a rather small cup & a hot chocolate which was kind of overpriced for its lack of quality & small size. When I saw the menu I noticed the food seemed just alright but not too worth getting.
5. The employees lack attentiveness. I had to get up from my seat to grab their attention at the front desk where two young ladies were sitting & chatting. I understand that it's fine to rest & chat but not to the point where I had to get up. They're definitely polite so I'm not upset at their attitude but I think if the washrooms reek or some areas of the cafe need attention, they should tend to their responsibilities.
Learning more towards 4.25/4.5 as a rating as opposed to a whole 5 star for a few reasons, mostly related to the bathroom ventilation & smell. I have come to the cat ccaf multiple times over the years, the grilled cheese are all delicious & the desserts too. The coffee isn't amazing or the best I've ever had but it's still tasty, the staff is very polite & kind which is very appreciated. During the rush hours (noon to two pm) there are a lot of kids so the café is very loud & the service is slower but it's still tolerable, the cats don't really come out as often or move around at that time for obvious reasons but they are the most active in my experience from 4 to 6pm (& it's also much less noisy). The cat café is lovely & I'll continue to be a semi-regular visitor. The price includes a cat care fee.
Nice to see kids so in love with cats. & they can even play with them. I expected not fine cake for such place but i was wrong.even cake is good. This place is so popular people wait to enter . First time & a very good impression.
Omg cute kitty's & amazing coffee & food great great place especially for day out with the kids
I was there yesterday & everything was fine. The food was good, the ambiance was nice, the service super friendly BUT, the food is a little pricey, we paid like $70 for 2 dishes, 2 coffees & 2 brownies. The place would be perfect if the kids weren't allowed because they keep on bothering the cats, I could clearly see the cats running away from them & avoiding their touch, I just don't think is a pleasant experience to eat while we can see the kids disturbing the vibe, also, the cats would appreciate them out of the establishment.
It's a cute place. Any place with cats is awesome. Menu is small but the grill cheese was good. My only only thing is that with all the kids stalking the cats, I didn't really see many when I did go & there are 6...maybe more cats would have been cool lol. Maybe it's a law thing. Both my kids & I liked it though.
Unique. Interesting. The kids loved it (I don't think I say the cats loved the kids) & no, there's no cat smell. My kid is alergic to cat's fur & she didn't have any problem.
