Café BRUT operates as a cozy, aesthetic sanctuary defined by its compact, intimate layout and creative drink program. The menu centers on inventive beverage crafting, featuring signature items like the banana bread latte that balances sweet, nutty notes with rich espresso. A dedicated photobooth provides a playful, interactive element within the small, character-filled space. Café BRUT is widely celebrated for its stylish, minimalist design and welcoming atmosphere, making it a standout destination in Griffintown. Many visitors praise the exceptional staff and the creative, unique specialty drinks, with the banana bread latte and matcha offerings frequently cited as highlights. While the majority of guests enjoy the high-quality coffee and vibrant energy of the shop, some feedback points to inconsistencies in drink preparation and occasional challenges regarding seating space and service attentiveness during busy periods. Overall, it is regarded as a charming local gem that combines aesthetic appeal with a warm, community-focused experience.
I was recommended this spot by a local & though it was further than other cafes, the idea of the photobooth drew me. Unfortunately, it fell short of the hype. While the cashier was friendly, the service post order was a bit disappointing. I'm not a confrontational person, but when I pointed out that my drink was made incorrectly, the barista barely acknowledged the mistake, shrugging & stating he'missed the note' with no offer to remake it. Prior to receiving our order, I overheard another customer mention something wrong with their drink with the same barista. As for the drinks, the matcha fraise & latte pain aux bananes were overwhelmingly average, lacking depth & smoothness (despite the first few inches of the drinks topped with foam). Indoor seating can be limited due to the amount of customers waiting in line to order or for their order, though there is an outdoor patio & bench area. Decor, lighting, & building that the cafe was located in was nice.
Really nice café! Great service, friendly staff, excellent lattes, & a beautiful space & patio.
The only downside is that Google says the café is dog-friendly, but dogs are only allowed on the outdoor patio, not inside. This should definitely be updated.
The matcha latte wasn't rich enough & tasted far too weak. After carrying it around for about ten minutes, the ice had melted & it became so watery that it was almost flavorless.
We experienced a significant disappointment with the yuzu cold foam matcha. The cold foam possessed an off-flavor, reminiscent of spoiled milk or cheese, which we believe was not the intended profile. Consequently, the entire beverage was discarded as it was undrinkable & induced a sensation of nausea. The taste & aroma were distinctly abnormal. We also had a blueberry cold latte & the coffee was pretty good but the taste of blueberry was very artificial. Honestly we heard good things from the coffee shop & we where very disappointed at the end.
This place is all hype, no substance. The banana bread latte tasted like milk with a hint of coffee bitterly disappointed especially given the inflated prices. Unfortunately, this is a one & done &, if in the area, White Heron is a much better option.
Très mauvaise expérience avec le Latte Glacé au Bleuets…
7.5$ pour avoir l'impression de boire le jus de la poubelle 🤢 jamais goûté un truc aussi mauvais de ma vie
Im not a huge fan of bananas but their banana bread latte is one of the best thing I've ever drank I don't now how they did that but you have to try it !!
Café Brut is one of those places where you immediately notice the attention to detail. The interior design is minimal, stylish, & full of character, creating a calm & inspiring atmosphere.
The coffee was excellent-I had a Flat White & an Iced Latte, both crafted with care. It's the kind of café that makes you want to stay a little longer, whether you're catching up with friends, working, or just enjoying a quiet moment.
Highly recommend if you're looking for a café with both great coffee & beautiful design.
