We sat at chef's table, & were impressed not only with the quality of the offerings, but with the attention to detail, the meticulous handling of plating, & the respect the chefs had for the kitchen, each other, the food they were preparing & the customers. It was a wonderful & memorable evening, & a great introduction to the concept of a tasting menu experience.
AMAZING! The food, the staff, the wine, the atmosphere 12/10! You gotta try it !!
One of the best experiences in the city, if you love hospitality, creative interesting food, fun vibe & clearly lots of care in the preparations. Definitely recommend
Something was just off for me. There was a odd amateur vibe to the whole thing. I've visited plenty of Montreal best's establishments, this one really felt short for me. Portions were small, only dish stood up for me. Service was not what you'd expect either from that sort of place & price point. Overall I think for the amount of money (165 for the course, 120 for wine pairing) you can get a much better experience elsewhere in Montreal.
Overall I had a great experience.
The food was really good, there were a few plates that did impressed me less than other, but there are definitely tastes in there that I will remember & I am really glad I had the chance to discover.
The wine pairing works really well for me & did add a lot to the experience & was definitely one of the most successful one I had the chance to try.
I only gave 3 stars to the atmosphere because it was really loud in there.
Given the price I was more demanding with my review, but I came out of this satisfied & I would recommend it.
I was awfully deceived by the service at this place. As much as the food was superb, i feel like the service & the portion don't own up to the price you pay per person.
Paying for a meal-wine experience that equals to 220$ per person, but you have no wine explanation whatsoever, the food portions are ridiculously small, i feel a bit robbed. The wine also felt a bit cheap considering the price. Maybe that's why they don't explain the wines?
I understand the whole concept & I feel like it could be a win. But they're missing the staff, the portion & the whole experience.
absolutely wonderful tasting menu. inventive takes on classics. lovely service
This is it, by far the worst food experience I have ever had. Period. Was a big fan of Massimo on the show so we were excited to go when we visited. Let me break it down:
-
Food: It's like someone leans how to make food look fancy without actually making it taste good. The vegetarian course were just them replacing whatever meat with a mushroom lol
Drink: By far the worst. I got the wine pairing, & by the second serve the sommelier comes by when I'm half way through eating it, mind you there was a wait between. By the third course she came by when I was having my last bite so I just said cancel the rest of the pairing & ordered a cocktail instead. Big mistake, it tasted terrible.
Service: Over three hours & we wanted to leave, with the time in between courses. At one point they brought our course to the table next to us, did the whole presentation & then as the people were about to eat took it a way & brought it to our table - AFTER OTHER PEOPLE WERE HOVERING OVER THE PLATES!
Chef: Massimo is a bit popular from being on top chef & doing well & other reviews mentioned that the chef comes out & chats with the tables but I noticed that he only stopped by tables filled with women which was quite funny.
Also the music is too loud to hear the person across from you & the theme is straight bs. As I write this, it just makes me upset, I hate that place. I know the name translates to'Hell's Cabaret' but you didn't have to punish us like that.
A friend brought me here after she had recently discovered & had loved it.
We went for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Arrived at 6:30 & left sometime after 8:30 as we took our time to finish our drinks.
The food was both beautiful & delicious. Each course was exciting & unique from the last that had come out, with such a diversity of textures, flavors & presentations. We had sat at the bar so we got to see them as they work on each dish & the energy behind the bar felt very upbeat. When the chef would present the food to us you could feel the passion he has for his work. Even the cocktails had really unique twists that I really appreciated over how they may be more typically served.
I would absolutely come back & bring some more friends to try this place
