They have amazing bagels. The standard & flavoured bagels. They have delicious danishes & you can get roti & Pattie's here. The samosas are delicious also!
We recently visited Montreal for the first time. Unfortunately, we didn't have very much time & well we had our dog. She's lovely & I'm glad we have her but she's a bit attached so leaving her for long periods of time at a hotel wasn't possible (stay tuned, this DOES factor into the review).
Because of the dog, we didn't have a chance to get to a bakery for bagels. Bagels were one of the primary goals. BUT, Door Dash to the rescue. We ordered from Brossard Bakery & received absolutely delicious breakfast sandwiches (Sandwich au saumon fume & the simply named Breakfast bagel) & 6 sesame bagels.
Being from the states we were immediately & pleasantly surprised by how nothing seemed overly salty. The salmon was tender (sometimes smoked salmon can be tougher), the bacon was meaty, not greasy & not SALTY. WHAT The bagels aren't made with salt & not only does it make for a phenomenal bagel but it also saved us later on. It was all delicious. The egg was fluffy & creamy, reminded me of tamago or a Japanese egg omelet with the slight sweetness.
My partner immediately started having a crisis over how much she loved these bagels after a lifetime of LA delis & their amazing bagels.
After eating, we packed up our bagels & headed out of Canada towards Vermont to start the New England portion of our trip. We got about 2 hours into it & had to split a sesame bagel that we both had been thinking about the entire time.
Within a couple of hours we were stopping in NH & checking into a wonderful little inn in Sunapee. As we headed back to the car my partner yells OH SH*T!!! OPEN THE CAR!!! I thought the car had been broken into or the dog was hurt... but no... she had realized that the dog had been left alone with the remaining 5 bagels.
We nearly cried when we opened the door & saw the bag with a hole chewed through the bottom & sesame seeds everywhere with not a single morsel of bagel left. I had to lean against the car for strength.
We still haven't forgiven her. Yes, we still love her but we can't let go of the lost bagels.
So, if I had one recommendation for Brossard Bagel it would be to start shipping their bagels & INTERNATIONALLY. Well, at least ship to the US.
Delicious bagels & amazing staff. Us Anglophones came in on Thanksgiving, hungry & with awful French skills, & not only were the bagels amazing but the staff were as well. They got us the freshest ones & were super friendly & patient with us because we were so excited & confused. We left with 3 bagel sandwiches & a dozen bagels for home along with instructions for how to keep them fresh. When I say the bagels were amazing, I mean we ate some of the fresh ones plain, just bit into them. When we left we saw the terrific window art & were extra pleased to have supported this business. Thank you!
Best bagles in Quebec in my opinion. You can go there & always get a fresh batch. They also have a variety of flavors that are exquisite. You have to try Montreal Steak Spice!
