Review Summary

Breizh Café gets strong praise for an authentic Breton vibe, a warm simple decor, and friendly attentive service even when busy. Crepes and galettes are repeatedly described as delicious, with flavorful savory and sweet fillings, plenty of buckwheat and gluten free options, and a good cider selection. Prices are considered reasonable for the quality and portions, making it a dependable spot for brunch, lunch, or dessert, and the atmosphere is often cited as a highlight with a cozy, welcoming feel and a pleasant patio. Some reviews note that brunch can be overpriced or underwhelming, and occasional crepe preparation quirks appear, but overall the quality and service shine. Reservations are advised on busy days, and many say Breizh Café is a top Breton crepe experience in the city.

Must visit! Delight your entire family! Delicious, authentic, well-priced, traditional, & creative Breton crêpes both savoury & sweet. Wonderful, charming, & handsome staff speaking French & English. Excellent outside spot with lots of room & great sightings for people watching. Definitely get a bottle of cider, homemade fruit juice- it's all goo! Gluten free buckwheat flour is so tasty!

Their brunch menu is not worth the price. For $20+ you only get 1 crepe & a couple of sides (& the fruit was limp). The'Canadian brunch' was definitely underwhelming. However, I enjoyed the cheese in the Crepe Breton, as well as the buckwheat flavor.

If you go here, order from their regular crepe menu, not the brunch. The lemon sugar crepe definitely made up for their lackluster brunch crepe.

I ordered La Chevrette for takeout, & the crispness of the crepe still held up pretty well after half an hour, though definitely better to eat it fresh on the spot. I was hooked after the first bite. The goat cheese & the caramelized onions 🤤 The caramelized onions are a must if you get a savory crepe. It's a buckwheat crepe so it was tougher than the traditional flour crepes, but the flavor is significantly better imo. The crepe is large & had a good amount of filling but won't leave you overly stuffed. It was a small meal, but definitely a memorable one.

The folks here are super nice, & service is quick even when they're busy. The place itself has a laid-back, warm vibe. Highly recommend!

What a gem of a crêperie !! My experience there was perfect from start to finish. All the staff was welcoming & the service, impeccable. (including serving my 2 crêpes in hot plates so they didn't become immediately cold - rare to see restaurants do that these days). My buckwheat galette with goat cheese & spinach (added spinach as an extra) was crispy & flavourful. I could tell the ingredients were qualitative, including the goat cheese. For dessert I had a "beurre sucre", probably the simplest option, & my favourite. It was great too. The decor & playlist were cherries on top. I wish Toronto had such an authentic crêperie bretonne like Breizh.

Went for breakfast on Father's Day. Not related to the Parisian chain. Good cappuccino & hot chocolate. Had savory buckwheat crepes 4 ways. La Complete: ham, Swiss cheese, sunny side up egg; La Nordique: smoked salmon, Swiss cheese, spinach dill cream on top; La Celtique: egg, goat cheese, caramelized onions & leeks; La Vege: Swiss cheese, spinach, tomatoes, caramelized onions with an add-on egg. Sat outside.

During my stay in Montreal, I ate at Breizh café twice. The first time, I was quite impressed with the food. Breizh café has a course menu where I can choose a starter, savory, & sweet crepe for $27. I ordered the soup du jour, which was a parsnip vegetable soup, the smoked salmon, swiss cheese, & spinach crepe, & the Belgian chocolate crepe. The soup du jour was hearty & flavorful. It was hands down one of the best vegetable soups I've had. The smoked salmon, swiss, & spinach crepe came in a buckwheat crepe, which had a good texture to it. Lastly, the Belgian chocolate crepe was quite sweet & rich for my liking, but the first few bites were still enjoyable. Because of my enjoyable first experience, I decided to go back a second time. This time, the restaurant was busy & looked heavily understaffed. It was a Saturday so I was confused as to why it was understaffed. That being said, I waited for 20 minutes before I had my order taken. When our waiter finally came, I ordered the French Onion Soup, the tomato & goat cheese crepe, & the apple cinnamon dessert crepe. Then I waited 30 minutes for the French onion soup alone, 40 more minutes for the savory crepe & another 30 more minutes for the dessert crepe following the savory crepe. In addition, our waiter never cared to check on our table & just ignored us every time he walked past. Regarding the food, the French onion soup was salty & watery but bland in terms of flavor from the beef stock & onions. It was one of the more mediocre French onion soups I've had, & I'd expect much better from a creperie in Montreal. The tomato & goat cheese buckwheat crepe was bland, dry & cold, as if it was sitting in the pass for an extended period of time, & the apple cinnamon crepe also came cold. Overall, my second visit to Breizh café consisted of long wait times & inconsistent food, & thus was a major disappointment. It was evident that the restaurant being understaffed on a Saturday affected both customer service & quality control.

Being from Brittany this is my go-to restaurant in the city. The owner is also from there & the buckwheat paste of the galettes is absolutely perfect (naturally gluten-free). Right dark colored & amount of bubbles, melting with leeks & goat cheese or chestnut cream, with Kerisac cider. They can be overwhelmed when busy & the patio isn't great when locals pass in noisy cars but inside & take out (with compostable packaging preserving your good) are great. & the price/quality is unbeatable, you will feel full but never heavy.
