The Holder brothers welcome you to their beautiful Brasserie Bernard for a pleasant evening or a friendly lunch. This place has become a classic on Bernard Street in the beautiful Outremont district; the neighbourhood’s charm contributes greatly to the charm of the restaurant. Try their fine but unpretentious European cuisine, in a warm, elegant and vibrant atmosphere
Brasserie Bernard is frequently described as a charming, Parisian style bistro in Outremont, offering a warm, attentive service and a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. The menu earns praise for classic French brasserie fare such as moules frites, tartares, duck confit, escargots, fish and chips, and steak frites, with many diners calling the dishes delicious and well prepared and the wine list a notable plus. The terrace and interior are highlighted as beautiful settings, though seating can be tight and the room can be noisy at peak times. Service is repeatedly described as impeccable and friendly, with staff often praised for wine recommendations, while a few visits note slower pacing or uneven attention. Value is mixed: some consider the prices worth it for quality and ambiance, while others feel portions or some dishes do not match the cost. Overall Brasserie Bernard remains a popular go to for a reliable, enjoyable French bistro experience, drawing couples and groups back for a special night or casual dinner alike.
First off it's a really beautiful place & the food is ok. Def overpriced though. $25 for an octopus carpaccio which was so so & cooked (not raw). $36 for their main sized tartare which is the same size as an appetizer portion anywhere else. I had the salmon tartare & bf had the beef & honestly it was just ok not more. We had the desserts & they were just ok. We had drinks too & they were pretty expensive. Overall if you wanna take pics it's nice inside but I wouldn't go for the food as you can find better & less expensive elsewhere.

Food was so amazing, but the lack of attention from our serve left a sour taste. Only saw him when he originally took our orders, never brought my drink until our meals came. He never checked in on us at all after our meals came which he didn't even bring out. Someone else brought our cheque & cashed us out. We had the duck, chicken & calamari. All was so amazing
I had returned to the restaurant after a wonderful experience last year & was somewhat disappointed with the food. I ordered the same dish - confit de canard - last time it came with delicious disc shaped crispy potatoes that were outstanding & the meat fell off the ones. This time it came with ordinary small roasted potatoes & the meat was dry & not nearly as tasty. Also, the frites that came with my guests steak were overcooked & cold. Most people were eating outside so the interior was a bit empty & less appealing but the service was very good. Overall not nearly as enjoyable as my first visit.
Very good to excellent Bistro dishes, cheerful service , reasonable prices, great buzz . Locals & tourists alike. First dates, old friends & families. You will eat well & leave with a smile.

Preferred restaurant for its ambiance & quality of food. Tables are though overcrowded which makes it difficult to circulate & get knocked by waiters or customers.
