The Holder brothers welcome you to their beautiful Brasserie Bernard for a pleasant evening or a friendly lunch. This place has become a classic on Bernard Street in the beautiful Outremont district; the neighbourhood’s charm contributes greatly to the charm of the restaurant. Try their fine but unpretentious European cuisine, in a warm, elegant and vibrant atmosphere
Overall Brasserie Bernard earns praise for its warm Parisian brasserie vibe, comfortable and spacious setting, attentive and friendly service, and a varied menu that delivers well executed classics such as moules frites, onion soup, ravioli, duck confit and steak frites, with desserts like pavlova and pudding chomeur also mentioned; the ambiance and wine list are frequently highlighted and the place is described as lively yet suitable for couples, groups or special occasions, though a few reviews note noise levels and occasional slower service when busy and a few dishes that lack salt balance or are priced high for the portion; many guests say they would return, recommend Brasserie Bernard, and consider it a top French bistro experience in Montreal
Déçue du calamar frit & des moules qui manquaient de goût. J'ai demandé si vous aviez changé de cuisinier car c'est sans commune comparaison avec avant ! On m'a dit oui presque un an & cela faisait un an que je n'était pas revenue.

While the food was excellent, the service was sub-par. We were basically ignored for most of the 2 hrs we were there by our waiter. He never asked us if we wanted additional wine; he never checked to see how our food was; we had to flag him down to get our check & then we couldn't get him to come back & "ring us out". The people at the table next to us who arrived about 20 minutes after us were served before us & gone well before us. Other people brought us water & cleared plates, but our waiter was very busy elsewhere.
