The Holder brothers welcome you to their beautiful Brasserie Bernard for a pleasant evening or a friendly lunch. This place has become a classic on Bernard Street in the beautiful Outremont district; the neighbourhood’s charm contributes greatly to the charm of the restaurant. Try their fine but unpretentious European cuisine, in a warm, elegant and vibrant atmosphere
Brasserie Bernard is frequently described as a charming, Parisian style bistro in Outremont, offering a warm, attentive service and a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. The menu earns praise for classic French brasserie fare such as moules frites, tartares, duck confit, escargots, fish and chips, and steak frites, with many diners calling the dishes delicious and well prepared and the wine list a notable plus. The terrace and interior are highlighted as beautiful settings, though seating can be tight and the room can be noisy at peak times. Service is repeatedly described as impeccable and friendly, with staff often praised for wine recommendations, while a few visits note slower pacing or uneven attention. Value is mixed: some consider the prices worth it for quality and ambiance, while others feel portions or some dishes do not match the cost. Overall Brasserie Bernard remains a popular go to for a reliable, enjoyable French bistro experience, drawing couples and groups back for a special night or casual dinner alike.
1st time visit , with a friend from Japan who wanted mussels !!! What a fabulous experience … the food was exceptional, the service amazing … just an all around delight … will be back for sure …. Merci beaucoup pour un expérience super !
Belle découverte cette Brasserie Bernard! L'accueil, le service avec Annie! Merci Annie! La nourriture, le délai imposé pour quitter! Tout était parfait! Nous sommes retournées après notre spectacle!
We got the veal ravioli, scallops, & a dozen oysters. The scallops & ravioli needed the slightest touch more of salt, it felt missing. The meal did not'wow' me, it was expensive ($60 per person) & nothing filled us up. The sauces made the food yummy. I did not like the Apple shreds on the scallops meal. The scallop sauces were phenomenal.
Belle découverte! Les plats étaient goûteux! Le doré délicieux! Que dire de l'entrée de foie gras! Wow! Service impeccable. Annie nous a aidé pour l'accord met vin & c'était parfait! On va y retourner!
Been coming here since it opened & have never been disappointed. We were a party of six & were warmly received. We had three servers throughout the night but they were all kind & welcoming & did an excellent job. Noise level is on the higher end so you will need to be aware that conversations can be a challenge. It was busy for a Monday night but I imagine that it was extra busy due to the holiday season. My fish & chips was very good. Perfectly moist fish in a batter that had some crispy parts & some softer parts which I prefer. The fries were also well prepared & sadly, the portion of the included slaw was TINY. It was delicious & I wish they would give you a decent quantity. All in all another great experience & will definitely be back.
C est toujours Agréable de venir manger a la brasserie ! C est BON , L ambiance y est Chaleureuse & le staff très sympathique ! Un Incontournable si vous passez par Montreal.
Warm & welcoming décor. Great brunch menu reasonably priced. Professional staff with genuine smiles. Weather being miserable outside yet the experience inside was enjoyable.
Thank you BB
I had the salmon tartare as an entree & sea bass a main, both very delicious As for dessert I had the pear meringue with chocolate ice cream covered in i believe a cream praline. Need I say more - scrumptious!
