Such a nice place with a warm & welcoming ambiance. We went for brunch, & everyone in our group was satisfied. The food was absolutely delicious! Ayman's service made the experience even better-he was so patient & friendly as we decided on what to order. Went back & the experience was a lot less exciting. Maybe the server wasn't interested but overall it was a miss. Did basically a repeat of the last experience & found everything to be very middle of the road. The drinks were ok but didn't wow like the last time. The tartare was the standout of the dinner & really hit the spot. Moving to the marrow & escargot everything was perfectly cooked & well seasoned. The gnocchi was good & the peas were perfectly crisp with a nice balanced sauce. The bouillabaisse was also good. Perfectly cooked & balanced well also. Portions were massive & we left a lot on the plates. I would probably go back again as this time was pretty lackluster. Maybe it was an off night. I absolutely loved Brasserie 701. Seated quickly & started with drinks. A Cosmo & Capitaine Rubis were a start. The Rubis was really a fantastic cocktail, well balanced & that last taste of maple was really the best part. I'm not a maple fan but that cocktail is something everyone should try. I tried 3 if that's any indication of it's quality. Next up the Escargot & Beef Tartare. The escargot was perfectly cooked, well-seasoned & better than expected. As good as any I've previously experienced. A fantastic order. The tartare was really fantastic too. It's one of those dishes that really should be something you order. We chose a trou normand & the sorbet was quite refreshing. I think that's more of a take it or leave it but we enjoyed ours. The main course: I chose the risotto with lobster tail & my companion chose the lamb shank. Both were perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked & a great portion. The gnocchi with the lamb was the best surprise of the meal. Perfect density & that sweetness was just right. It was a fantastic meal that I'd rate among the best places that I've eaten at. dessert was the creme brulee & a cafe au lait. The bitterness of the coffee & the sweet creme brulee hit so perfectly in balance I have never been so happy to order dessert. Service was great. Very attentive, not rushed at all but the timings were perfect. I felt like our server was excellent & a true professional. The environment is really nice for dining. It's about the right lighting although I needed a light to read the menu. But I'm old so it is what it is. The volume is surprisingly good for conversation. The price is amazing. In the US I have paid 3X for similar quality food. I'll be eating here every time I'm in Montreal. It's a staple dining establishment.Voir plus

We had an amazing brunch here! The avocado toast (with perfectly poached eggs) & steak & eggs were amazing & the cocktails were on point. Maeva's service was awesome & she was so sweet to bring us a little treat to help me celebrate my birthday. For the gluten free folks out there, they do have gluten free bread & were very accommodating of my allergy. I would definitely come back!Voir plus

Brasserie 701 was my restaurant of choice for my Christmas morning brunch! It did not disappoint! My server Tristan went above & beyond- he was incredibly busy but still made time to offer a few suggestions around Montreal "from a local". I really appreciated this banter as he gave me tips & tricks & insider info on the places I was already planning to visit. Once a year I award a server 100% tip for being incredible, & Tristan was my 2024 recipient! Thank you so much! The buffet was officially supposed to begin at 10am. I was seated around 950 & everyone was floundering about setting up the buffet. It seemed like nobody was in charge & everybody was unsure of their role. I didn't even get water or a Bonjour until about 1020! But it was smooth sailing from then on out! There was a hot table with beef bourginon, eggs Benedict & salmon. The cold table featured different salads- classic Caesar, beet salad & quinoa salad. The dessert table was far off on the side & I'm not sure many people even saw it (I was sitting across from it). The sunshine hits in the most lovely way through the windows of Brasserie 701. It's perfect for taking photos! The building is beautiful from the outside as well! I went there for lunch with my wife, & we wanted to try their "Beef filet mignon" & their "Lobster with Sabayon" but unfortunately this was impossible as they were serving only brunch with a unique menu for the holiday period! This could have been easily avoided if they had mentioned it on their website!!! Anyways we ended up eating the "Poulet Gaufré" & the "Bénédictines au confit de Canard" & they tasted good enough! Je viens de découvrir un joyau au coeur de notre dame à Montréal. la Brasserie 701. Depuis mon appel pour faire une réservation, Naki a été très accueillante & très agréable. On arrivant c'est elle même qui m'a accueilli & m'a préparé ma table. Avec une attention & un grand sourire. La cuisine est très raffinée, des plats délicieux & soigneusement bien présentés. Je tiens à remercier tout le personnel pour leur professionnalisme & leur dévouement & surtout à leur amour pour ce travail. Je vous félicite tous & à leur tête le maître d'hôtel Mr Gavin. Un grand Merci à Tristan, un serveur hors du commun, un artiste dans ce qu'il fait. We had two visits to this bar inside the Hotel Place d'Armes, one was for an afternoon cocktail & a snack- the charcuterie was simple & a good size for pre-dinner snacking. The bartender John was nice to chat with. Then we popped in for breakfast, generous portions & served quickly. We were very pleased with breakfast & a mimosa to end our vacation stay.Voir plus
