Truly is a little hole in the wall dive bar. Even hard to find from the street. Food rough & ready but don't look too close in the kitchen. Washroom wouldn't pass code where I live. Service makes up for it all. Friendly & welcoming. Is it a 4.7? No, a 3.5 at best. Interesting clientele if you know what I mean.
HUGE portions. Menu features American pub food such as wings, burgers, onion rings, & a few entrees. Great service & the food comes out rather quickly!
We visited on Sunday for the comedy show & ordered buffalo wings, the steak frites, onion rings, & the fried apple pie with ice cream. We also ordered the pitcher of mojito. The steak was not the best quality & a bit overcooked, would not order again. The wings were great! They also feature several sauce, rub, & dip options. We didn't enjoy the onion rings as much as we are used to beer battered onion rings with a different flavor profile. The fried apple pie with ice cream was a great treat, I'd definitely order it again. Lastly, the mojito was huge but unfortunately did not seem to have much, if any, alcohol in it. For $40, we felt we overplayed for a lot of ice & barely & alcohol.
The atmosphere was what you'd expect for a bar/pub setting. Clean, & there was music plus the soccer match (FIFA World Cup) playing live on the television. The comedy show was also great with the servers & service not skipping a beat despite having to juggle around the live entertainment.
Brass Door is exactly the kind of pub Crescent Street needed. It's got this really solid no nonsense vibe, great drinks, decent food & a crowd that just makes the whole place feel alive. We went on a Friday night & the energy in there was really good without being overwhelming. The bartenders were on it the whole night, drinks came fast & they were actually generous with the pours which you always appreciate. They've got a terrace too which is a great spot to post up when the weather is nice. Prices are very reasonable for the area which is a bonus considering how touristy Crescent can get. Live entertainment adds a lot to the atmosphere as well. Honestly just a really fun & unpretentious spot to grab some drinks with a group & have a good time. Will definitely be back next time I'm on Crescent.
First time here, ordered the nachos & 2 caesars.. had to be the worst nachos I have ever had. The ground beef was extremely burnt, barely any other toppings & the nacho chips were severely overcooked & stuck to the serving paper.
We were going to order more drinks but the server never came back.
$110 for burnt nachos & 2 Caesar's, yikes! Will not return.
LP is the best bartender in Montreal treated us like family when we were here for the weekend came here three days straight & treated us like regulars, if you are ever downtown Montreal I highly recommend treating yourself to a night here, they are the friendliest people you will meet. You will not regret your time here if you are having a little stay in Montreal. Five stars across the board!
