About

Brass Door Pub delivers a quintessential tavern experience centered on hearty, pub-style comfort food and a focused selection of draft beers. The menu prioritizes classic fried appetizers, substantial burgers, and various handheld sandwiches designed for casual consumption in a relaxed setting. Wood-paneled walls and dim lighting define the interior aesthetic, creating an environment built for social interaction and communal drinking. Patrons find a reliable rotation of international lagers and local ales that pair directly with salty, savory snacks served throughout the day. This establishment functions as a neighborhood anchor where the focus remains steadfastly on providing accessible fare in a stripped-back, unpretentious atmosphere. Everything within the venue serves the primary goal of maintaining a consistent, straightforward environment suitable for casual patrons seeking traditional pub staples and cold beverages in a functional space.

Review Summary

The Brass Door Pub is widely recognized as a welcoming, vibrant, and unpretentious destination on Crescent Street, frequently praised for its exceptional chicken wings and friendly, attentive service. Many guests highlight the relaxed atmosphere, which is enhanced by live entertainment such as comedy nights and sporting events, making it a favorite for both locals and travelers. While the venue is celebrated as a hidden gem with a strong sense of community and efficient staff, some visitors noted that the building shows its age and that the food quality can occasionally be inconsistent. Overall, the establishment remains a popular choice for those seeking a fun, casual environment to enjoy good drinks and hearty pub fare.

Walked by & they were playing great music & I noticed they actually had a brass door. 5 hours later I've had great wings, great beer & a few shots while the world cup was playing. The staff was extremely welcoming & very responsive. Definitely get the Messi hot dog & crispy fries & don't forget to wash it down with a la batt 50. Shout out to Jessie, Ed, & Danny for welcoming us into the fold.

Truly is a little hole in the wall dive bar. Even hard to find from the street. Food rough & ready but don't look too close in the kitchen. Washroom wouldn't pass code where I live. Service makes up for it all. Friendly & welcoming. Is it a 4.7? No, a 3.5 at best. Interesting clientele if you know what I mean.

What started as a completely impromptu decision turned into one of the highlights of my trip to Montreal! I randomly stumbled upon this comedy night at Brass Door Pub, & it exceeded all expectations.

The atmosphere was fantastic- casual, welcoming, & perfect for a fun, low-key night out. The crowd was great, the energy in the room was contagious, & the entire evening felt effortlessly enjoyable. The food was also surprisingly good. The mozzarella bites were absolutely delicious & paired perfectly with the drinks & the show. It's always a bonus when a venue delivers on both entertainment & food, & this place definitely did.

As for the comedy, every performer on the lineup brought something unique to the stage. The comedians were incredibly talented, & the show had the perfect balance of clever, spontaneous, & delightfully unhinged humor that kept the audience laughing throughout the night. You could tell everyone was having a genuinely good time, both on stage & off. There were audience from all over the world that night!

If you're looking for a relaxed night out that doesn't feel overly commercial or crowded, this is exactly the kind of hidden gem you want to find. Whether you're a comedy fan or just looking for something different to do in Montreal, I highly recommend checking it out. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

HUGE portions. Menu features American pub food such as wings, burgers, onion rings, & a few entrees. Great service & the food comes out rather quickly!

We visited on Sunday for the comedy show & ordered buffalo wings, the steak frites, onion rings, & the fried apple pie with ice cream. We also ordered the pitcher of mojito. The steak was not the best quality & a bit overcooked, would not order again. The wings were great! They also feature several sauce, rub, & dip options. We didn't enjoy the onion rings as much as we are used to beer battered onion rings with a different flavor profile. The fried apple pie with ice cream was a great treat, I'd definitely order it again. Lastly, the mojito was huge but unfortunately did not seem to have much, if any, alcohol in it. For $40, we felt we overplayed for a lot of ice & barely & alcohol.

The atmosphere was what you'd expect for a bar/pub setting. Clean, & there was music plus the soccer match (FIFA World Cup) playing live on the television. The comedy show was also great with the servers & service not skipping a beat despite having to juggle around the live entertainment.

If you're considering visiting, I recommend it!
