About

Boom J's Cuisine specializes in authentic Jamaican preparations that prioritize traditional spice blends and slow-cooked protein techniques. The menu centers on staple Caribbean flavors, featuring signature jerk chicken seasoned with scotch bonnet peppers and pimento, alongside tender oxtail stews served with fluffy rice and peas. Side offerings consistently include fried plantains and festivals, providing a balanced texture profile to accompany the robust, heat-forward main courses. The dining room maintains a functional, casual atmosphere focused entirely on the delivery of genuine island comfort food without unnecessary embellishment. Every component of the meal reflects classic preparation methods found in regional Jamaican kitchens. Patrons encounter a straightforward culinary experience defined by deep aromatic profiles, consistent heat levels, and a commitment to preserving the integrity of traditional Caribbean recipes through careful ingredient selection.

Review Summary

Boom J's Cuisine is widely celebrated for its authentic and flavorful Jamaican dishes including standout jerk chicken, savory oxtail, and rich curry goat. Customers frequently praise the large portion sizes, the high quality of the meals, and the signature hot sauce that adds a significant kick. While the vast majority of feedback is extremely positive, highlighting consistent taste and excellent service, occasional concerns have been raised regarding the seasoning and preparation of certain items like the roti. Overall, the establishment is viewed as a top destination for Caribbean food in the city, though some diners seek a more consistent experience across the entire menu.

We ordered lunch for our staff at work & the food was phenomenal! We had orders of jerk chicken, BBQ chicken, pineapple chicken, fried chicken & oxtail. Everyone had positive feedback. Jermaine was very pleasant & kind. Highly recommend! The jerk chicken was outstanding (almost ate the bones 😆)

Second time going & this place is the real deal! I stand by what I said the first time. If you're a hot sauce lover, the Boom J's hot sauce is SERIOUS. Like scotch bonnet hot 🌶? Love it!

Highlight: Jerk Chicken
Parboiled rice, saugy tasteless veggies, oversweetened coleslaw, stale plantains. Overall, an insult to Jamaican food. The rice was precooked, big nono for any ethnicity. To top it off, 600$ for a subpar, to say the least, catering. Please, do not mistake this place for typical carribean food, if you cannot get RICE straight, it's clearly a lack of passion.
