Overall, Bombay Mahal shows a mix of strong flavors and uneven moments, with butter chicken, naan, and other curries frequently praised for taste and tenderness, the atmosphere described as cozy or unpretentious, and many reviewers noting friendly service and good value, especially for lunch or takeout; some experiences, however, mention overcooked tandoori, salty sides, slow or inconsistent service, and occasional discrepancies with promotions, but the overall sentiment remains that the restaurant is a reliable go-to for Indian food in Montreal.
Fantastic food, been ordering from this restaurant for years, but really be careful on their 2 for 1 deals, press 2 & comment that you want two, otherwise they don't honour their advertising.
Hopefully service is better next time, as I said great food & long time customer…

I witnessed something today that left me genuinely disturbed.
A delivery driver picking up an Uber order was denied access to the restroom - despite actively working for this restaurant. No favor was being asked, just a basic human necessity.
In 2026, treating the people who help generate your revenue as if their dignity doesn't matter is unacceptable. Delivery drivers are not disposable labor; they are part of what keeps businesses running.
This moment said far more about this restaurant than any menu or branding ever could.
Every time I go, the workers are so lovely, & accommodating. I took my family here & the staff were so nice & gave extra food for free, & helped my parents a lot. I personally go as my cheat meal & they always do the extra mile to make me happy (like putting extra sauce on my rice for free!!)
Ruby (I believe is her name) has been so kind to me especially. But all the staff are great.
Highly recommend!! One of the best spots in town for Indian for sure.
Worst food ever, ordered an extra large salad & received a small size & all the food is flavourless & did not receive any sauce with the food too. Will never for the life of me order from those place, you guys should not too.
Went to Bombay Mahal today for New Year dinner with my wife, & unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations.
I'm Tamil & grew up eating authentic Indian food, so I know what proper flavours, balance, & preparation should taste like. That's why this was especially disappointing.
I ordered the butter chicken thali, & my wife had the lamb thali. Both dishes missed the mark badly. The tandoori chicken pieces were dry & overcooked, the salad lettuce was soggy with no freshness, & the aloo bean side was excessively salty. My butter chicken was watery & lacking depth, while my wife's lamb was salty & not spicy at all, which makes no sense for a lamb curry.
This restaurant used to be excellent, which is why we chose it for New Year. In the past, the food was amazing even if the service wasn't great. Today it was the opposite.. the service was good, but the food quality & execution were very poor. I've came here multiple times in the past within last 15 years.
Really hope this was just an off day, but for a place with such a strong reputation, this was a big miss.
Worst food & service. I ordered food through uber & the order was not complete. I did not recieve the whole order. I call them & they did not solve the problem. Neither they send me the missing item nor gave me refund for that. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food is absolutely incredible, it's tasty & flavorful. I went a couple time for the butter chicken on the lunch menu. The sauce is buttery, not too overpowering & the chicken is tender. The naan is out of this world & so are the samosas. However, I would say the service could be better, we had to go get our server multiple times to order (appetizers, mains, refills) & it always felt like we were bothering her. The food is so good tho I could not give less than 5 stars!

Went here a few times & ordered the same dish each time. First time it was $12, now it's $18 for the exact same thing in just three months. Way overpriced for what you get. The food is mid, & honestly there are plenty of restaurants in Parc-Extension that taste better & are way cheaper.
