Bombay Mahal is widely regarded as a staple for authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine in Montreal, consistently praised for its delicious butter chicken, diverse thali platters, and excellent naan. Many patrons value the restaurant as a reliable, affordable, and family-friendly destination that provides generous portions and high-quality meals. While the atmosphere is frequently described as simple and unpretentious, leading some to prefer takeout, the overall consensus highlights the food as the main draw. Although experiences with service and consistency can occasionally vary, the dedicated staff and overall value continue to make it a popular choice for long-time customers and newcomers alike.

I have bought here for many years & its sad to say quality is going down. The onion bahj have always been good but the tikka masala is gone from amazing to tasteless the past few times i have ordered. All it taste is the heat spicy & sadly the real spices like cardamom are not present no more. Tonight i also had the most dried chicken possible & this had never happened. i ll probably switch back to maison indian curry next order.

Bombay Mahal offers a nice lunchtime menu at this restaurant, it is reasonable with good variety & it's tasty. I had the butter chicken thali & my friend had the lamb thali. These platters are wonderfully savory & the naan bread was great!

Stomach ache & diarrhea every time my friends & I eat here. Multiple people, different dishes, same problem. The food tastes great & affordable but the aftermath is not pretty.

Ordered: butter chicken, aloo gobi, naan & rice

Went to Bombay Mahal today for New Year dinner with my wife, & unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations.

I'm Tamil & grew up eating authentic Indian food, so I know what proper flavours, balance, & preparation should taste like. That's why this was especially disappointing.

I ordered the butter chicken thali, & my wife had the lamb thali. Both dishes missed the mark badly. The tandoori chicken pieces were dry & overcooked, the salad lettuce was soggy with no freshness, & the aloo bean side was excessively salty. My butter chicken was watery & lacking depth, while my wife's lamb was salty & not spicy at all, which makes no sense for a lamb curry.

This restaurant used to be excellent, which is why we chose it for New Year. In the past, the food was amazing even if the service wasn't great. Today it was the opposite.. the service was good, but the food quality & execution were very poor. I've came here multiple times in the past within last 15 years.

Really hope this was just an off day, but for a place with such a strong reputation, this was a big miss.

We ordered some dine out via UberEats. Not the best Indian food. Chicken Tikka masala was more like Butter Chicken! Chicken Korma was okay too.

The food is absolutely incredible, it's tasty & flavorful. I went a couple time for the butter chicken on the lunch menu. The sauce is buttery, not too overpowering & the chicken is tender. The naan is out of this world & so are the samosas. However, I would say the service could be better, we had to go get our server multiple times to order (appetizers, mains, refills) & it always felt like we were bothering her. The food is so good tho I could not give less than 5 stars!

It was a bad experience for me & my family. I ordered thali chicken tandoori was no flavor. I can't eat that.i don't know how the chefs cooked that kind of cooking.& served it from kitchen. Marinating was so poor & dingy.
