About

Bocadillo specializes in authentic Venezuelan cuisine defined by signature arepas and cachapas prepared with traditional corn dough. These griddle-cooked staples serve as the primary vessel for diverse fillings ranging from slow-cooked shredded beef to salty white cheeses and savory black beans. The menu emphasizes structural simplicity and bold tropical flavors inherent to Latin American culinary traditions. Patrons encounter a casual environment where the focus remains strictly on the technical preparation of grilled sandwiches and plantain-based sides. Each plate prioritizes the interplay between crisp textures and rich, savory ingredients characteristic of coastal Venezuelan street food. The establishment maintains a streamlined approach to service, ensuring that every order highlights high-quality proteins paired with fresh avocado or spicy garlic sauces. This culinary destination preserves the essence of genuine South American comfort food through focused preparation.

Review Summary

Bocadillo is widely celebrated for its authentic and delicious Venezuelan cuisine, with many diners highlighting the exceptional quality of the arepas, empanadas, and tequeños. The restaurant is frequently praised for its friendly, attentive service, welcoming atmosphere, and pleasant patio space. While the food consistently earns high marks for its fresh flavors and gluten-free options, some guests note that portions can feel small for the price, and wait times can occasionally be long during peak periods. Despite these minor criticisms, the restaurant remains a favorite destination for both locals and visitors seeking a warm, culturally rich dining experience in Montreal.

I went with my family trying to watch a soccer game & have lunch. The restaurant was almost empty & they assigned to us a table were we couldn't see the TV. I asked to change for a table with a better view or accommodate us better since we were with & elderly that couldn't watch that far, one of the owners was really rude. He told us that the table we were sitting in was the only one or nothing, if we didn't like that table we should leave. Worst experience in Montreal, as a Latin I am I expect to find some kindness as we are used to in our countries, what rude & offensive service moreover on a place that wasn't even busy

Belle & bonne découverte de la cuisine vénézuélienne! Petit endroit, nourriture excellente & service rapide.

My friend was right, this sammy was worth every bite. The pork, marinated in passion fruit juice, garlic, spices & wine is slow cooked for 12 hours. I dunno about you lot, but I can appreciate that sort of dedication. The yogurt bun is quite possibly, I’m convinced, laced with crack, cuz I’m not even down with chewy white bread & I fully failed at proving that. In the end, maybe it was the parsley/garlic mayo that pushed my date with this sandwich from, “yah, he seems interesting” to “we should most definitely hang out again.”
