Reviews describe Bistro Amerigo as a cozy, neighborhood Italian bistro in Montreal with a simple, honest menu of well executed classics made with fresh ingredients. Diners repeatedly praise the gnocchi, meatballs, arancini, and a wide range of pastas and seafood, noting generous portions, comforting flavors, and a homey atmosphere that suits lunch or dinner. The wine list and service are often highlighted as warm and attentive, though several comments mention long waits for tables due to no reservations, crowded spaces, and occasional inconsistencies in service. Standout dishes such as vongole, octopus, and tiramisu or cannoli are frequently cited, while a few visits are described as pricey for the area. Overall, the restaurant is seen as a genuine Montreal gem that delivers authentic Italian food with personality and invites guests to return to try more of the menu.
la soirée aurait pu être plus agréable si on ne nous avait pas demandé de quitter la table sitôt la facture payée !!! Il était 7:45 pm & ils avaient besoin de la table !!!! Nous avons trouvé cette attitude fort désagréable !

All the dishes we ordered were very good & the portions are generous. The polpettes & cavatelli barese were our favorites. Great service too :) Place is a bit noisy & dark inside but the deco & products they sell make it cute. Was a bit hot inside too. Happy I tried it.
My favourite restaurant in Montreal. My wife & I go back periodically, it's just a fantastic experience every time, from the excellent professional & friendly service, to the actual delicious food they consistently serve. The price is very good too: nowadays it's difficult to find restaurants that serve this level of quality at a reasonable & affordable price. We are always pleased with Amerigo, & that's why we keep coming back.
We were 2 couples. When we arrived terrace tables were available. They didnt offer that & put us inside at a table with high (not the most comfortable) chairs. Service was a bit off. They took our order & then someone else came to take our order! Had to ask for water refill. Their included salad was meh. Main dishes were good. The restaurant has AC, but it was very hot inside. When we asked they said the AC wasn't working. They should have told us that from the start & that would have been a'great' reason to ask us when we arrived if we wanted terrace seating. By the time they asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, we were so hot we got the bill & went out for a walk.
Where do I even start! You think you're waiting a long time, but the second you get there they give you a complimentary salad, bread, & 5 smiles. A burrata to start, perfect. Now comes the star: the truffle gnocchi & the à la Norma! These 2 dishes paired perfectly together. The gnocchi is PERFECTION but very rich. & the Norma balances it out. These dishes are so good, it felt surreal. & then we ordered dessert, a perfect end to the meal. Tiramisu & pistachio gelato, so light. The real highlight, besides the amazing food & beautiful ambiance, was the service. We felt like part of the family by the end. Everyone there was so welcoming & loving, & they just wanted us fed. Such a warm place to be, we must go back next Thursday!
Amazing amazing italian food, generous portions, great service! It's a gem in Montreal! They don't take reservations, so there is usually a waiting line :(

Man when I tell you steve took care of me from a to z... wow... the chicken parm is great..other pastas very fun... very good red wines... will absolutely be back. Add next time I'll add photos...
While the wait can take a bit of time, it was definitely worth it! My friend loves this place & suggested it for us to go dine in. Each primi comes with a side of salad or soup + you get complimentary bread. For the main, I am usually not a big fan of gnocchi but their gnocchi funghi e tartufata was divine; you will love it. I did not enjoy my cocktail - the margarita azzuro, if you are into sweeter drinks, do not order that one.
Hidden gem! Possibly the best Italian food I've ever had outside of Italy. This small bistro serves uncompromising & incredibly flavorful Italian dishes in a cozy setting. I had the grilled Octopus which was absolutely amazing. Cannot recommend enough!
Strong service team with a great space & atmosphere. It has all the ingredients to be incredible. Drinks were really good as well. The kitchen wasn't as strong as the front of house team however. Had the chicken parm & the norma. The norma was better but not more than ok. Started with polpette, potatoes & buffala apps which were better than the mains.
Everyone here is so incredibly friendly, the service is quick & very professional. It's not often you get a full service meal anymore (bread & salad) so it's refreshing. I typically go for the mushroom gnocchi- it has yet to disappoint. There's nothing like sitting on their terrasse & sipping a cold spritz on a warm summer evening. Great date spot or somewhere to impress the in-laws. Make sure you go put your name down early to get a table though, they're so popular it's often full.

Gorgeous big portions of perfect tasting food. The kind of meal that makes you feel giddy before & well after you finish your plate. Service so fast & friendly staff. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely date night Amerigo!
First time here, excellent authentic italian food. I had the truffle gnocchis that were delicious & their tiramisu was great. Good selection of cocktails, only good things to say about the Limoncello.
Well I previously reviewed this place years ago after being treated very rudely in front of my little girl on her birthday & gave it an excellent rating on bread but on service, not even 1 star. I swore I would never go back & purchase another loaf of bewad although my family loves the bread. We stayed away for years, & then wirh my go ahead my husband started on a rare special occasion buying the bread again. This image is the inage i took after msking my first purchase after over 5 years of never stepping foot inside again. The place was newly renovated & the staff was friendly andprofessional & had a warm disposition about themselves. The bread is still very good & the cookies. I willbe back & contonue to come bavk as long as i & my family have a humane experience no matter if dealing with the owner or the staff.
