Reviews describe Bistro Amerigo as a cozy, neighborhood Italian bistro in Montreal with a simple, honest menu of well executed classics made with fresh ingredients. Diners repeatedly praise the gnocchi, meatballs, arancini, and a wide range of pastas and seafood, noting generous portions, comforting flavors, and a homey atmosphere that suits lunch or dinner. The wine list and service are often highlighted as warm and attentive, though several comments mention long waits for tables due to no reservations, crowded spaces, and occasional inconsistencies in service. Standout dishes such as vongole, octopus, and tiramisu or cannoli are frequently cited, while a few visits are described as pricey for the area. Overall, the restaurant is seen as a genuine Montreal gem that delivers authentic Italian food with personality and invites guests to return to try more of the menu.
Had an absolutely fantastic meal at Café Amerigo. Everything we ordered was so good.
The food is comforting, flavorful, & clearly made with care. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, & the portions are generous without feeling heavy. It's the kind of place that feels authentic & unpretentious, yet delivers quality dishes that you'll think about long after you leave.
What really puts the experience over the top is the service. The staff are incredibly warm, attentive, & welcoming - the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. That level of genuine friendliness is rare & it makes the whole meal even more enjoyable.
The atmosphere is lively with that classic neighborhood café energy where everyone seems to be having a great time.
Honestly, everything was so good that we're already talking about planning another trip to Montreal just so we can eat here again. If you're visiting the city, Café Amerigo is absolutely worth making time for.
Authentic Italian, wines that are not found anywhere in the city. A truly Italian experience in Montreal with a very humble home feeling. Recommended 100% 5 stats +++

Such a great vibe at this place. The food is so authentic & delicious. We went twice in two days! Be prepared to wait for dinner (or go in the afternoon like we did!) The best puttanesca I've ever had.
very small restaurant with no reservations. cute bistro feel, Italian, & authentic.
nice but not overbearing service - although we did feel some pressure to have to leave as we were a large group of 7 (was was 1/3 of their table space).
the food was all fantastic. incredible. that's where the five stars comes from & it is well deserved.
Most perfect Neighborhood Italian bistro serving the most authentic Italian one can find in Montreal. Super charming staff & fair prices like one can hardly find in Montreal these days. A must for any foodie

Simply incredible! Im a sucker for good authentic italian food & have been to italy a few times & this place hits the spot just right. Its cozy & they don't take reservations, so be aware of that. The food is awesome, the service is not fussy but very nice, efficient & friendly. I especially recommend their papardelle at ragu (veal sauce) which slapped. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu
What an unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we sat down, we were taken care of by Roberto, who was an absolute gem of a server-sweet, warm, & authentic. He made us laugh, told stories like everyone's Nonno, & made us feel right at home.
The food was phenomenal. We started with the veal meatball-tender, rich, & perfectly seasoned. The seafood platter was fresh & generous, & the linguine with sardines was a standout-bold, flavorful, & done just right. We finished with a crisp, creamy cannoli that hit the spot.
The ambience was exactly what you'd want for a cozy Italian dinner: dim lighting, a little loud, but so familiar it felt like a big family gathering. Highly recommend-can't wait to come back!
Everything over there is cooked to perfection to make it delicious & real Italian authenticity, from the appetizers to the main dish. Not to mention that the calamari melts right in your mouth. The staff is super friendly & provide excellent service.
I recently visited Bistro Amerigo with my boyfriend, & while I was excited to try it based on all the good things I'd heard, the experience left me with mixed feelings. The restaurant is super small & doesn't take reservations, so we ended up waiting about 30-45 minutes to be seated. As soon as we sat down, someone came to take our order before we even had a chance to look at the menu. We ordered a glass of wine each, along with the meatballs, octopus, & cavatelli barese pasta (with Italian sausage & broccoli), which came with either a soup or salad as a side. Both entrees & the wine arrived within about two minutes of ordering, which felt a bit rushed. The meatballs were amazing, & the octopus was good, though slightly chewy. The pasta was also delicious & tasted authentic-I even ended up taking the leftovers home. While the food was generally impressive & felt true to its Italian roots, the pace of the service made the meal feel rushed, & it was clear they wanted to turn over tables quickly-we were in & out within 40 minutes. The place itself has a really cool vibe, but the rushed atmosphere kind of took away from the experience for me.
Not that they need another 5 star review but here goes, Really authentic italian sauce & seasonings. Superb rapini ( green veggie with outstanding nutritional profile) & drop dead delicious cannoli !
If you're looking for an authentic Italian restaurant with quality food & a homey feel, you need to come here. The food is always delicious & the service is quick. Best neighborhood restaurant
