Reviews describe Bistro Amerigo as a cozy, neighborhood Italian bistro in Montreal with a simple, honest menu of well executed classics made with fresh ingredients. Diners repeatedly praise the gnocchi, meatballs, arancini, and a wide range of pastas and seafood, noting generous portions, comforting flavors, and a homey atmosphere that suits lunch or dinner. The wine list and service are often highlighted as warm and attentive, though several comments mention long waits for tables due to no reservations, crowded spaces, and occasional inconsistencies in service. Standout dishes such as vongole, octopus, and tiramisu or cannoli are frequently cited, while a few visits are described as pricey for the area. Overall, the restaurant is seen as a genuine Montreal gem that delivers authentic Italian food with personality and invites guests to return to try more of the menu.
Finally-a truly refreshing Italian restaurant that dares to be different! Unique dishes like the Sardinian ragù set the tone for an exciting menu. Everything was executed to perfection: bursting with flavour, beautifully textured, & artfully presented. The ingredients were clearly fresh, & the service? Exceptionally warm & knowledgeable. Add to that a fantastic wine list featuring both classics & intriguing lesser-known varietals, & you've got yourself a genuinely lovely dining experience.
C'était notre toute première visite à ce tout petit resto de quartier. On nous a servi des plats à saveur italienne tout à fait délicieux. L'endroit est plutôt petit mais très accueillant. Le service était attentionné.
Simply incredible! Im a sucker for good authentic italian food & have been to italy a few times & this place hits the spot just right. Its cozy & they don't take reservations, so be aware of that. The food is awesome, the service is not fussy but very nice, efficient & friendly. I especially recommend their papardelle at ragu (veal sauce) which slapped. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu
I stumbled upon Bistro Ameriko recently, & I have to say, it's a gem in Montreal's dining scene. One of the things that immediately caught my eye was that they offer vongole, which is surprisingly hard to find around here. Naturally, I had to give it a try, & I was not disappointed!
The vongole was everything I hoped for - perfectly cooked pasta with a delicate, briny broth that really let the clams shine. It had just the right balance of garlic & white wine, & every bite transported me to the Italian coast. It's not easy to find a place in Montreal that does vongole right, but Bistro Ameriko nails it.
For lunch, they also serve a simple green salad when you order one of their mains. While the salad isn't fancy, it's a nice touch - crisp greens with a light vinaigrette that complements the meal without overpowering it. It's a thoughtful inclusion that rounds out the plate.
I also tried their fungus pasta, & wow - it was packed with earthy, umami-rich flavors. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, & the sauce clung to the pasta beautifully, delivering a satisfying, hearty bite every time. It's a dish I'll definitely be coming back for.
Overall, the atmosphere at Bistro Ameriko is warm & inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The service is friendly, & it's clear that they put a lot of care into their food. I'm already planning my next visit - there's so much more on the menu I want to explore. If you're in Montreal & looking for a place that offers both classic favorites & hard-to-find gems like vongole, Bistro Ameriko is absolutely worth a visit.
Nice cozy, familiar little place. The staff are very amiable & warm. Insalata Di Popo is a must do - the roast on the octopus is top tier. It's hard to do octopus correctly & this place nails it - tasted fresh! Portions are nice & big.
About 20 mins walk from Villa Maria metro if you don't want to take the bus.
I would just like to share my experience through Uber Eats. I was craving gnocchi bolognese but that was not an option on the menu. Nonetheless, I love this restaurant so I ordered anyway. In the comments, I asked if they would possibly sub out pappardelle for gnocchi if they could. Chef Alex not only switched out the pasta, but wrote back an incredibly kind note & included a cannoli. Kindness like this truly restores my faith in humanity. Thank you so very much & I will continue to be a loyal customer!
Solid Italian in NDG, probably the best in the neighborhood. We went for lunch.
We shared the polpete as appetizers, which tasted great. We then had the eggplant pasta & the duck pasta. They were served with a very tasty green salad. Both were good, & portions were super generous, we could barely finish, but we weren't wowed.
Service was quick, & the place is very charming & cosy.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience, we'll come back for dinner to try other dishes & see how that compares.
