I discovered a jewel of a place located in the heart of Montreal's village nightlife.
Here is what I wrote a friend about Bernard Gourmand Cabaret Burlesque, on this day, Friday, June 20th, officially the 1st day of summer:
About this place:
No cover charge. But you would be expected to order something to drink or eat.
There is LIVE spectacle entertainment here. The performances are dazzling & the music selection great igniting one's nostalgia for the 1940s.
I am no fan of drag queens but an occasional one performs to satisfy a diverse clientel. Tonight there were no drag queens but a burlesque Rio Carnival girl in full costume regallia performing on the floor & on the bar counter & of course a pole dancer who also used her skills on an elevated overhanging hoop from a ceiling which was incredible!
The drinks are expensive to cover the cost of the performers & entertainment. I have not yet experienced their lunch hour brunch but I expect to: performances are also LIVE at brunch.
My'querdo' portugese beer cost me $11.50 after tax per bottle but was well worth it given the quality of entertainment. I do not know how much cocktail drinks are. I had 3 beers tonight.
Somebody I invited, was supposed to show up tonight, Friday night June 20th the first day of summer officially but he never showed up. I had a good time anyway. I arrived at 8 PM & left at 10:00 p.m.
Reminds me of the film'Casablanca'.

I own a pole studio in New Orleans so I see burlesque & pole on an almost daily basis...& yet....I was friggin BLOWN AWAY by the performers here.
Every single act was pure talent. The staff is amazing...so sweet, so funny. I could have spent all night at this restaurant. The drinks were so good... very tasty.

Absolutely loved my experience here. From what I remember they were serving brunch cooked hot plates since their kitchen was still in the process of being completed & the food was EXCELLENT!! We had an amazing yogurt bowl, coffee, salmon gravlax, & avocado toast.
It's definitely a splurge depending on the event, we did drag brunch, & it was worth every penny. The pole/burlesque shows are next on my list for this spot. Can't wait for them to become a village institution.View more

Super nice, smaller venue with exquisite food & an excellent show. From burlesque to acrobatics, you'll spend an amazing evening! You will need a ticket to the show which acts as your dinner reservation. They are well worth their price.
A 2-minute walk away from Beaudry metro station on the green line, I recommend going there in public transportation since parking is nearly impossible in this area. They do offer valet parking, which is very nice.View more

La soirée « folies d'un soir »: une expérience vraiment unique! Un souper-spectacle incroyable, qui mélange nourriture gastronomique, danse burlesque & contemporaine & acrobaties, avec une touche d'humour. L'ambiance, en plus d'être sexy, est intimiste, car l'endroit n'est pas très grand & n'accueille pas plus que quelques dizaines de personnes. Simon au bar est parfait & ses French75 sont délicieux. Juste équilibrés & c'est un plaisir de le retrouver derrière le bar.
Nicolas est à la cuisine & il assure! La carte est délicieuse tant sur les soirées que sur les brunchs.
Définitivement LA place qui manquait dans le village!
