Le Bêden Caphé fait parler de lui & c'est une bonne chose. C'est un café qui, tout en faisant preuve de déférence envers la tradition, ose également l'éclater & recréer. C'est un local qui reflète le penchant de sa propriétaire pour le vieux, mais qui n'hésite pas à ajouter une touche personnelle, elle plus moderne. Visuellement, cela se manifeste par un paysage où les contrastes s'enchaînent : ici des chapeaux accrochés au toit, là des persiennes roses, ci-côté des affiches de films d'une autre époque, là-bas un mur de roses avec un piano en contrebas. Quelques convives, appareils photo à la main, étaient visiblement ravies de ce cadre enchanteur. À mon humble avis, le point de vue d'ensemble était surchargé & un tantinet discordant, mais pris individuellement, de chaque élément du décor se dégageait un attrait singulier. Gustativement, l'offre présente des saveurs vietnamiennes typiques (de premiers ordres, de surcroît) telles le banh mì « classique » & les « caphê », mais également des plats originaux, telle la poutine aux saucisses chinoises & le croissant banh mì (disponible le matin seulement, regrettablement ! Quel mal y aurait-il à l'offrir toute la journée ?). Lors de notre visite, ce samedi après-midi, c'était Bê en personne qui était aux commandes de la caisse. Amène & de belle humeur, elle nous a patiemment assistés, mon frérot & moi, dans nos décisions sur les mets qu'elle allait nous porter jusqu'à notre table : la soupe « Bê » au poulet, celle « char siu », le banh mì classique & deux bao burger au porc char siu. Miam. Juste, miam. C'est non seulement esthétiquement soigné, c'est également, voire surtout, franchement délicieux. Une mention particulière également pour le latté aux oeufs avec une mousse qui se savourait à la cuiller. Les prix sont, au demeurant, abordables. Si vous avez un gros appétit comme le mien, vous pourriez vous en tirer aisément en dépensant moins de 30 $ pour un repas complet (& ragoutant). Voici donc un excellent café vietnamien « montréalais », c'est-à-dire un café qui célèbre les deux cultures en les harmonisant plutôt qu'en les opposant. Raph cảm ơn bạn Bê rất nhiều. Highly recommend this cafe! I was in town in search for a strong Vietnamese coffee & I was not disappointed. They were busy & for a good reason! The atmosphere was great as well. The owner even took some time to introduce himself to us & was very friendly. They had a couple of people playing the piano which was nice to listen to. I'd love to go & visit this place again when I come back to Montreal.

I've been to this place at any time of the day - bfast, lunch & dinner. My fav is the morning: you get to chat with Bê the owner, who is just so authentic. Just like her whole menu! My 15 months old loves the couch, my 7 years old loves her grocery "snacks" section. It's a win for the family! Hidden gem on Laurier... word of mouth has it that it's THE spot! Go experience Beden for yourself :)

Beau café honnêtement avec un décor unique! Je suis allée 2 fois. Une fois avec mon copain & on a adoré. On avait la difficulté à se décider tellement que tout avait l'air bon (café viet, thé & même des repas)🤤. Je suis retournée pour venir travailler puisque j'étais dans le coin. Le niveau de son était parfait! Il y a même une petite section pour acheter des snacks, café & dessert! Que dire du service! Même si c'est occupé ou non ils nous servent avec plaisir & attention💕

This is the best banh mi I've had. The meat was juicy & full of flavours, the bread fresh & crunchy on the outside. I am definitely coming back for a bite & to try their extensive coffee & bubble tea menu. Might not be the best if you're in a rush since they are only a small team & make everything fresh to order. But with that you get service that is really attentionate & staff that take the time to talk to you & to explain the menu. I absolutely recommed it!

This is the best Banh mì I've probably ever had, & I've eaten a ton. It's so fresh & the pork is perfectly cooked. The restaurant is also so beautiful. Customer service can be a little slow because they are just so busy but they make up for it with their kindness! So so grateful to have this place in the area.

I went a month in Vietnam & felt in love with Egg coffee, there. When I came back in MTL, i was desperately looking for a place that would make them, not even hopeful that I would find any. Beden caphe just proved me wrong. Their egg coffees are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I almost cried when I drank it -it threw me straight back to Hanoi. Everything from the food (delicious & authentic) to the service (I want Be to be my bff now) is impeccable. An absolute most in Montreal!

Cute Vietnamese neighbourhood café. Nice decor (Vietnamese hats, old books, a piano, cherry blossoms...) They sell Italian & Vietnamese coffee. The Vietnamese Egg Latte is a must try! They have a breakfast menu (croissants) & a regular menu which includes banh mì (Vietnamese sandwiches), poutines, baos, meal soups & some appetizers. You order at the counter & they bring your food & drink to the table. Prices are very reasonable. Their banh mì are very crispy & tasty. This coffeeshop is very relaxing. It's a great place to meet with friends over a coffee & banh mì. The owner Bê is there everyday. She is very outgoing & fun to chat with.

I went to Beden on a Sunday afternoon & tried the Vietnamese egg coffee which was amazing. As you go through the coffee from top to bottom, you discover new textures & tastes. I had been there once before & I saw that they had a piano but hadn't played. So this time, I came back with a piano book. To my pleasant surprise, the piano was perfectly in tune ... just like the coffee!!!
