The ambiance of this restaurant is incredible, making the dining experience very enjoyable. This was my first time trying Peruvian cuisine & it exceeded all expectations! • Anticucho Pollito: My favourite dish was the Peruvian chicken skewers! They were tender, flavourful, perfectly marinated, & had just the right amount of heat. • Causa de Camarón: I was immediately drawn in by the vibrant colours & the presentation of this dish. • Ceviche Clásico: The tangy marinade paired with the freshness of the mahi mahi fish was the highlight of this meal. I also liked the texture contrast of the crunchy toasted cancha & the mahi mahi fish.View more
The drinks & food had great presentation. The chicha sour & Maracuya sour were well balanced. The Ceviche Barranco was delicious but the fried Yucas were bland. They do not provide canchita or chifles like other Peruvians restaurants even when I asked for it. Some Peruvian music in the background would be better to have a more complete Peruvian experience. The dinner was pricey.View more
Best Peruvian food in Montreal. So authentic & delicious. Great variety of drinks as well. Perfect for a night out!View more
My wife & I discovered Barranco thanks to the Théâtre du Rideau Vert's website which lists restaurants offering discounts to their ticket holders. We chose Barranco after studying the menu on their easy-to-navigate website. Once on site, we found the staff welcoming & the menu, a culinary adventure featuring Peruvian specialties. The decor is artistically creative, the toilets are clean, the ambience is lively with background music turned down just right for easy conversation, & the service is thoroughly friendly & professional. Carlos was in charge of our table & supported by his colleagues who each brought a different plate of tapas as they came out of the kitchen. Carlos knows the extensive menu by heart & took the time to explain it to us clearly & enthusiatically. This restaurant is clearly a going concern. Prices are reasonable & the place was busy during our early evening midweek visit. My wife & I enjoyed the whole experience very much.View more
Excellent place for an outing with friends. Peruvian food has a lot to offer a refined palette.View more
As it was our first time in a Peruvian resto we where very happy to have a great server as a guide in this great place..She took the time to explain to us the many choices on the menu. Atmosphere was lively & loud, but that is to be expected when the place is full. Everything we tried from the drinks to the dessert was top class. So in other words..we will be back for sure when in Montreal. On a personal note: As an older customer i would of liked a reg in hand menu instead of the bar code app.It would of been easier to order. Merci pour votre tres bon serviceView more
Great food & drinks! My first time trying peruvian food & definitely won't be my last. We loved our server, she was very kind & had a really cool vibe. We will be back.View more
There's no reason to add potatoes to Conchitas a la parmesana. It ruined the dish for my whole table. Please stop changing the original peruvian recipes. They are amazing just like they are. Otherwise the food was tasty.
Amazing food, lovely staff & adore the ambience. Will definitely be back again soon when I'm next in Montreal! & can't wait to tell others who want unique Peruvian delights!
Unic experience to have peruvian food. Exciting drinks & tasty meals. Meal portions are small though. The spicy sauce was amazing.View more
The food is a really creative mix of Peruvian street food & fine cuisine. Flavours abound & every dish is enjoyable. The drinks are amazing & the bartenders are not only master artisans but really lovely people, so pleasant & skillful. The Maitre D' & DJ are the only downers, being anxious & moody respectively. The music isn't bad, but turns the fine dining experience more into a nightclub event. For some that is exactly what they want. I have gone back several times in the past & will return (even just for the bartenders, who are fantastic). Definitely a fun place to go with a group of friends.
Surprise anniversary dinner for the missus (Peruvian Food Aficionado). Delicious food. Great service. Only thing is, & maybe it's just me (maybe not), I had to ask to be transferred out on the terrace because the music was intolerable inside for both of us (No influence here...she said it first). It's seems to be the trend (I've noticed a lot lately) for restaurants to want to create an atmosphere (I totally get it but come on...) by playing Loud Rap Music, yes with all "those lyrics". Some people just looove to eat with a DJ in the corner. Not my cup o' tea. Grumpy & Intolerant people need to eat too ya know !
Great food...Check ! Great service...Check ! Loud Explicit Rap...Check...WAIT WHAT ?!? Check please !
Alfajores for dessert were good, service was great, food was good, but not if you are expecting traditional Peruvian.
Everything was really good! As a peruvian this has good flavors. The only thing is that we ordered lomo saltado & it came without rice, & we couldn't ask for a side of extra rice. So the lomo was good but it wasn't a real lomo saltado without the rice.
Great food, excellent service.
Peruvian cocktails are very good.
Decoration is nice. The menu requires variety as real Peruvian plates, by the way Peruvian people always love Lomo Saltado with white rice & the Pisco Sour must be improved. Thanks.
Service & food were amazing! As a Peruvian I could tell that the food was very authentic & delicious. We had a great time & the drinks were great too!
The food was great, the place is nice & the staff too! As peruvian i did like this play would go again!
Authentic Peruvian flavour. Amazing causa, arroz con mariscos, & ceviche.
Food was simply amazing, presentation A1. I still don't feel comfortable with paying so much for Peruvian food as a Peruvian, however I think if food would be a bit cheaper I will come more often. Still it was amazing as always.
Urban chique with a touch of authentic Peruvian... can't go wrong with food & service quality as well as size of portions! Make your way over for lunch or dinner, you & your friends will be well treated.
I love this place. I am Peruvian & I loved the ambiance & the food was amazing. Cocktails & music were super good too. Great restaurant all around. If you come here you will eat very well!
It was okay. It's fusion Peruvian cuisine. The food tastes good, the drink had way too much ice. It's was decent . Service okay. Wasn't impressed. Nice spot to try once. Food is tapas experience. Worth the shot. Not too expensive, reasonable.
Good food & good ambiance. Limited children's menu with very limites options. Phenomenal staff, friendly & very attentive. The food is amazing, well balanced & wholesome with very good authentic peruvian taste. Barranco beer & cocktails are very good. Would recommend this place.
Four of us shared an amazing, creative meal at Barranco. Highly recommend anything with octopus in it, & don't come unless you want to share everything. The drinks were also nuanced & wonderfully balanced--as good as I've gotten at any cocktail bar. I'd say the one element of our meal that stood out the least was the ceviche, but maybe that's because we ordered a traditional one rather than one of the restaurant's signature innovations. For real, if you go to Barranco, embrace them doing their thing rather than trying to replicated some Peruvian dinner you've had in the past.
All the staff were really friendly & nice, though they seemed short-staffed during our visit. This might have been why the service was a little slow--something that doesn't pair well with being reminded upon arrival that you're only going to have the table for two hours. NB folks with hearing issues: there was a DJ on when we visited, so be aware that the atmosphere is raucous & you may have a harder time holding a conversation.
The cocktail was very pretty, like wow! But a bit too soft, tasted like a juice. The Chupe was not really a chupe (Ive tried many peruvian restaurants & been to Peru, first time I see a chupe like this) - Was not a big fan of it. The ceviche Barranco was good, small portions for the price & a bit salty, but good overall. I give the whole experience a 3 star counting the ambiance which I liked, the decor was cool & the service was very good. Thanks! Wishing you sucess & hoping you can take in the feedback to improve.
Honestly some of the best food I've had in a long time. I never knew how unique Peruvian cuisine was, & at Barranco it's clear that it's all made with a lot of love & finesse. Cocktails are amazing as well. Very special place!
