I love how creative you are, Bar St-Denis! & you know, those in the know, they say that they judge the greatness of a kitchen brigade by how great the sauces are. & omg, your sauces dazzled (on this evening, the sauce of the duck magret, the soubise sauce of the boudin blanc, etc. They dazzled)! Not to forget... À ne surtout pas oublier...The world class service at Bar St-Denis! Le service de grande classe du Bar St-Denis! You can have the best food in the world. Vous pouvez servir les meilleurs plats au monde. But if your service is not up to par, you will not whet my appetite! Mais si le service n'est pas à la hauteur, mon appétit ne suivra pas. Here, at Bar St-Denis, both the food & the service were great. Lors de mon passage au Bar St-Denis, l'expérience dinatoire & le service furent de haute volée. À l'équipe du BSD, pour moi, vous êtes des Artistes (oui, oui, Artistes avec un grand A), donc je vous dis "Bravo, les Artistes"! C'est vraiment beau de voir des professionnels travailler avec coeur/passion (ce qui est votre cas)!
The food was good (solid falafel, perfectly cooked duck) but the price points were really off for some dishes (40 dollars for cabbage... throwing in chanterelles doesn't justify that price). Service at the table was fine, but the front of house staff was extremely odd. We showed up for a reservation around 9pm & the table wasn't ready for ~30 minutes. The response? "Yeah this is a good lesson, don't pay for the bill & take too long to leave the table as a customer". Yikes.
Great little restaurant that serves small shareable plates. We had the discovery menu. The food, service & atmosphere were good. Wine selection is ok. A bit pricey but we had a good time.
This place is spectacular. The menu varies when you go, but the food is outstanding. A lot of seafood, so if you're not a seafood person, this place might not be for you. I missed pictures of the last two dishes, which were a chicken dish that tasted like a Thanksgiving turkey & a phenomenal duck dish. The service is phenomenal. All servers are articulate & always smiling. They were accommodating to some people's needs. No complaints. The atmosphere is very quaint. This place is a small hole in the wall that opens a world of wonders & excitement. My only complaint is not knowing which bathroom to go in. The pictures on the doors don't indicate which one will be right for you. I was not disappointed with the portion sizes, flavors, or dishes. I'm looking forward to going back & doing it all again.
On a suivi les suggestions de notre serveuse Laurence & nous avons été impressionné! Nous étions 4 & avons partagé le crudo de cardeau, les pétoncles, les palourdes, le boudin noir, porcelet & ballotine de poulet , la salade d'épinards sans oublier le gâteau au fromage. Bons choix de vins & cocktails
J'ai vraiment été déçue. Il n'y avait aucune complexité dans les saveurs, tout était bland (j'ai partagé avec des amies les pétoncles, cardeau, porc, labneh, falafel & tarte à l'oignon). TOUT était décevant. Le dessert était délicieux par contre (le cheesecake). Le service était bien aussi. & c'est définitivement dispendieux pour ce qu'on reçoit en retour.
Tout d'abord le service était impeccable, rien à dire! En revanche nous n'y retournerons pas malheureusement. C'est vraiment très cher pour ce que c'est & pour la qualité comparativement à d'autres restaurants dans la même gamme de prix. La déco est trop simple & un peu triste. Puis en ce qui concerne la cuisine, cela manque de goût mais surtout de finesse quand on est à ce niveau de prix. Nous avons prix 3 plats à partager & 2 verres de vin & avons dépensé 220$ (taxes & tips inclus) pour 2.

Not sure what the hype is about this place. The menu was very interesting but the food lacked flavor. Ideally the food should make you want more, but I felt very indifferent of my meal.
Absolument délicieux, cocktails élaborés & raffinés. Une cuisine maîtrisée est surprenante. Un détour par le bar Saint-Dénis est une évidence pour tous les épicurieux.

Pour un resto de ce type, celui-ci ne réussit pas à se démarquer. Portions petites, service expéditif & peu professionnel. C'était bon sans plus, mais je ny retournerai pas. Il manquait un WOW.
Dans mes tops prefs depuis des années. J'ai amené quelqu'un cette semaine pour lui montrer un de mes endroits préférés, on a pris le menu dégustation & j'ai été quand même déçue parce qu'il y avait vraiment pas de variété...
Fantastic restaurant! Food & staff superb! Love watching the food prepared. All dishes explained thoroughly (Pennsylvania & California crew). Montreal is lucky to have this gem of a restaurant.
