I got food poisoning from there macarons & was very sick for 3 days.
I was able to do some testing of things I ate & was able to confirm with 100% certainty that it was the macarons.
When I communicated this to the business owner, she told me that this was not possible, brushed off my concern, & said no one else complained so she wasn't going to be doing anything further.
I'd strongly recommend you steer clear of this place & that food health & safety can help give them more training on how to prevent this in the future.
We came for the Peter Rabbit High Tea to celebrate Easter while visiting Montreal & were immediately charmed by the cozy vibe, music & cute decor on the 2nd floor seating area that reflected the Easter theme. The three-tiered tray of tasty food was generously portioned, especially the sandwiches. A delightful refreshing mocktail & a huge pot of tea were included. We loved the Easter themed macarons, mini bundt cakes & cookies!
The service was amazing as they frequently checked on us & when they noticed we were so full after the sandwiches & scones, they offered to pack the desserts for us to take away.
While we were there, we noticed we were the only ones dining upstairs. All customers came in to order something to take out. It felt like we had our own private oasis for the afternoon so we think this lovely cafe is a hidden gem. A hidden gem that we will definitely return to when we're back in Montreal!
Cute little Café with yummy lunch & very affordable. Also yummy macarons & funny accessories.
If you are looking for a private room for a small group of people, Bar à beurre has a wonderful place for you! We were looking to host a high tea for 20 people, following a courthouse wedding & instantly fell in love with the lovely decor of their private room. Vanessa has been responsive & attentive to our needs, was accommodating to some of our guest's allergy requirements, & had put together a beautiful setting, all in respect to the thematic of our wedding event. The attention to detail was noticed & appreciated by all. Her team on the floor were present & responsive, always nice & courteous to me & my guests. We pre-selected a number of teas from their provided list of teas & the selection was varied enough to satisfy everyone's taste. I personally enjoyed their earl grey & peach tea. The food tasted fresh, the selection of sweets are tasty & the service paired nicely with our teas. I especially remember their matcha macarons & cupcakes. Thank you Bar à beurre. We had a lovely wedding event & your decor, food & service have contributed to making this day memorable.
We were attracted by the exterior decor & once inside we realized it gets better. So many things we would love the purchase including prayer style candles with pop stars or celebrities on them which we loved. Apart from the beautiful & elaborate interior we enjoyed some magnificent, homemade tasting macarons in various delicious flavours & French toast latte, yes read that again, it's as good as it sounds. We also couldn't help but get the cookie adorned with lucky charms which was too if to finish but still wonderful.
Thought it was super weird that they display the French macarons so beautifully packaged in a lovely clear box with a ribbon but don't offer the same packaging when people actually want to buy them? I really wanted to gift the macarons to someone & had asked if they could package it like they were displayed in the windows but instead they gave me my twelve unevenly baked French macarons in a takeaway box. Also didn't appreciate having being served after other clients when I was waiting first. Most probably because it is a super small place though.
