Pretty place, nice atmosphere. Waitress was excellent & provided great wine recommendations. Food was pretty mediocre though. The fried calamari was very basic for that price. Served with the typical marinara sauce. Not super crispy or seasoned. The sea bass was alright but overpriced for what it was. Side vegetables (carrots, broccoli, & two others) were just boiled, no seasoning. Boiled potatoes were well seasoned at least. Complimentary walnut cake was dry, didn't really seem fresh at all.View more

Our group enjoyed our dinner & experience at Balos. The fried, stuffed calamari were great, along with their roasted potatoes. The grilled shrimp were large but slightly overdone & so a bit tough. Service was very attentive, although not personal (maybe some people appreciate a more distant service approach). Good atmosphere & tablets settings.View more

Lunch. I had the grilled salmon, generous portion, nicely cooked, tasty. Comfortable chairs, nice to have tablecloths & real napkins making the place more elegant. Menu for evening looks great but I am unable to come to terms with the prices these days, most mains in the $30 to 40 plus range it is expensive to eat out these days especially with the 15% tax & expected tip. Just saying. It's a nice place, would certainly go back...after my next pension cheque comes in !View more

Octopus was delicious, lamb chops as well, the side veggies were bland, the service was rough & very very slow, I also really didn't appreciate getting our group awkwardly getting appetizers at different moments (say 10-15 minutes apart), they also forgot one of our appetizers. All in all, I think the food is good, but service & lack of atmosphere (no music) makes it a less enjoyable experience. Oh it's also very pricey. Fried calamari is mid & the grilled calamari as well. It was our friends birthday & service was so bad that they never came to get our dessert order, all in all dinner took forever because of bad service. Ridiculously good fish. Even for Canadian fresh fish standards. Simply virtuosic cooking. The quality of the food outshines the atmosphere & the service, however the atmosphere & service are the best that I have experienced in Canada!!! What they don't mention is that the kitchen is closed between 3 to 4 pm. It's getting ready for night shift . The salads are amazing , the main course is good but don't order the Salmon it's too greasy . Wines are good. I always feel good when the owner is involved & gives instructions to their staff while helping with the running of the place which was the caseView more
