Review Summary

Baan Lao is widely celebrated as a hidden gem in Montreal, offering a unique fusion of Bangladeshi and Vietnamese cuisine that is completely halal. Customers frequently praise the depth of flavor in dishes like the beef pho, banh mi, and various grilled skewers, often highlighting the freshness of ingredients and generous portion sizes. While the restaurant is noted for its cozy, family-operated atmosphere and exceptionally welcoming service, some diners mention that wait times can occasionally be longer during peak hours. Overall, the combination of affordable pricing, attentive hospitality, and a menu that successfully blends diverse flavors makes it a highly recommended destination for both local residents and visitors.

Halal Vietnamese & Bangladeshi restaurant
It's my first time to eat halal pho in Montreal. It's delicious & comes in a big portion. Fast service, clean establishment, & very close from the metro station (located on rue Charlevoix). Rizwan is very polite & friendly. Will definitely come again!

Lovely people, great food & all halal. Also, I noticed they don't stalk Coca Cola products, just bds safe products which is amazing. I'm not from Montreal but I plan to come back sometime. Thank you!

Delicious Bengali Viet fusion. I had the beef pho & beef bahn mi, the flavors, freshness & overall taste are 10/10. Nice drink options too like salaam cola & more.

We enjoyed the food.
We got the 2 for 30$ entrée & shared a beef pho. The broth of the pho was delicious, good noodles, & large pieces of beef.
The entrée was good too & we ended up having some skewers to take home as leftovers. The shrimp were very large, the size of a regular fork!

Not sure why this place has such a high rating. Really really dirty tables, expired drinks, really overpriced banh mi, microwaved vermicelli & chicken. Save yourself the disappointment, go eat anything literally anywhere else.
