The McGowan Inn opens its doors to a living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a bar, where you can enjoy a drink or a good coffee. The adjoining dining room, completely glazed, and the large terrace offer a magnificent view of Lake Memphremagog. The Inn also offers a private room that can accommodate a group of 12 people for a meeting or for a meal taken in complete privacy.
Local products are featured, including fine herbs from the Inn's garden and organic vegetables from the Jardin du Quartier, which holds a farmers' market on Saturdays in Georgeville.
Overall, reviews highlight Auberge McGowan for its stunning lakefront setting, tasteful decor, and delicious food, with a memorable terrace atmosphere by the water. The dining is praised for flavor and quality, and the table d'hote option is often noted as a fantastic value. Service is generally warm and professional, though several reviews mention occasional slower moments, especially with wine service or menu explanations, and some dishes are perceived as pricey or with smaller portions. Vegetarian options are described as restrictive by some guests, who would welcome more flexibility. Renovations have refreshed the space, and the lake view remains a major draw, making it a favorite for anniversaries, sunny lunches, and dinners by the water. A few reviews mention that live music on the terrace in summer can be loud and interrupt conversation, but most say they would return and would recommend Auberge McGowan.
Restaurant: only choice was Indian food because it was Tuesday despite having a varied menu for the rest of the week. Food was not authentic Indian. Butter chicken was dry & not cooked in the sauce, lamb was over cooked. Dessert was not great. Having been here on many other occasions in previous years, I was very disappointed.

An idyllic location!
Even on a rainy spring evening I could tell the beauty of McGowan restaurant by the lake.
The food is excellent & so is the atmosphere.

No longer the much loved, charming old fishing pourvoirie that it used to be, The McGowan House has morphed into an exquisite restaurant & boutique hotel of fine taste. Rebuilt with deference to its patrimoine britanique du Quebec its style reflects the architecture of this very special historical village.
Each time we return to dine we are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cuisine, the kindness of the staff & the beauty of the sunset across the lake. Thank you to all who have made this village jewel a reality.
We celebrated our son's 18th birthday & had a lovely dinner in the Inn. Although we did not stay over, the restaurant & bar were beautiful, & the service was great. I hope to return in the summer when we can experience more of the view.

I have been to pub night at the Auberge a few times & enjoyed each one but last night. Instead of moist, plump fish served in a light batter as usual, my fish was in dry clumps & the batter was actually burnt. Very disappointing.
My three companions has burgers (which again are usually very good) but these seemed overcooked as well.)
I will of course give them another try but that would be it...
Normally the food is quite good so I am hopeful.
Maybe this was a off night.

Our friends dined with us Saturday night at Auberge McGowan. We were delighted by the design of the property, lobby & dining room. It is stylish & fresh without feeling pretentious. It was dark when we arrived, but we could see light reflecting off the lake from our table. Even though the atmosphere was amazing, the food was even better. Auberge McGowan served four courses of outstanding & very delicious dishes. We enjoyed every tasty morsel. We all agreed that we will look forward to our next dining experience there. We highly recommend dining at Auberge McGowan!
I had lunch with my husband & friend on Friday. We were so pleased with the whole experience! The setting was beautiful with a view of the lake & the restaurant was quiet. So happy there was no loud music playing as some of us have hearing issues. We were able to enjoy our conversations. Thank you! The food was delicious with 2 having the fish & chips (beautiful piece of cod with a light crisp batter) & I had the gnocchi with wild mushrooms, peas & pancetta. Excellent! With a glass of wine it was the perfect lunch. This is the third time since July that my husband & I have brought friends & dined at Auberge McGowan. We will definitely be back to enjoy a winter meal. Hopefully in front of your fireplace. Here is a picture from our July lunch.
