About

Arahova Souvlaki specializes in traditional Greek street food focused on rotisserie-cooked meats and authentic preparation methods. The menu centers on tender souvlaki skewers and thinly sliced gyro served within warm, pillowy pita bread. Fresh tzatziki provides a signature cooling contrast to the savory, herb-marinated proteins that define this culinary experience. Accompaniments include crispy, golden potatoes and crisp salads featuring briny kalamata olives and creamy feta cheese. The straightforward environment emphasizes functional seating and efficient service designed for direct engagement with hearty, protein-rich staples. Every dish reflects classic Mediterranean flavor profiles through the use of high-quality oregano, lemon, and garlic. This establishment maintains a consistent dedication to the preparation of staples that honor historical grilling traditions and time-tested recipes from the Hellenic culinary canon.

Review Summary

Arahova Souvlaki remains a staple for many patrons who appreciate its long-standing history of serving authentic Greek comfort food, with many reviews highlighting the flavorful tzatziki, tender pork souvlaki, and the welcoming atmosphere. While a significant number of diners praise the professional and friendly staff, consistent quality, and efficient catering services, others have expressed concerns regarding recent changes in portion sizes, recipe consistency, and rising prices following management shifts. Experiences vary across different visits, with some guests finding the meals fresh, generous, and perfectly seasoned, while others report inconsistent service or occasional issues with food temperature and texture. Overall, the restaurant continues to be a popular destination for those seeking a nostalgic or reliable Greek dining experience in Montreal.

The souvlaki could be the best in the world, but BEWARE if you're using a foreign card to pay. Yesterday, I ordered a lamb souvlaki pita to go. Menu price: 10.95 + TVQ. Charged me 15.85 CAD, so apparently he tipped himself. To boot, he didn't give me the receipt as required by law but a kitchen order slip instead with no prices (classic scam used in Colombia). Being overcharged $3 & change is egregious enough, but this is the same place where my US card was cloned by the waiter 20 years ago & I was bilked for over 2200 US in gasoline at some Quebec gas station. Yeah, I'm dumb to go back there, but that was the last time. Don't care how good the souvlaki is!!!!

The lady standing at the reception has no sense to speak at all. She is not even ready to talk to the people who come to collect the delivery.👎🏿

Best Greek food imo, love their tzatziki sauce & their pork souvlaki & gyro are always so delicious (never dry either!) Nice decor with lots of seating, fast & friendly service & they have lunch specials - but the prices are pretty reasonable regardless. I always make a point to go to St-Viateur whenever I come to Montreal, not for the bagels but for this Greek restaurant! I've been a customer since the 80s & the fact it's still there & there are repeat customers says a lot about the consistency & good food.

Arahova used to be decent if you wanted simple Greek fast food. I went yesterday & wow… I should've known what was coming when I saw the washroom, which honestly looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week.

We started with two beers served in dirty glasses. Wanting something fresh before the main course, we ordered the pikilia. Technically it was fresh… straight out of the fridge. Easily one of the worst pikilias I've ever had. Everything was drenched in some kind of oil that definitely didn't taste like olive oil.

Then came the chicken gyros platter. Pretty standard dish, but again, disappointing. The potatoes were bland, the Greek salad looked sad, & while the chicken & rice were okay, the whole plate was extremely greasy.

We spent over $100 for this experience. Honestly, a shame. Definitely not going back.

Ordered a souvlaki pita. Disgusting. 4 small pieces of meat, very chewy full of nerves, tasted burnt. Pita was so small seemed like a children's portion, French fries were awful. Not going back. Too bad new ownership hasn't improved anything.
