I went here with my grandparents and they were very accommodating for my grandfather who is hard of hearing. The food was really good, I recommend the sweet and sour pork. The gentleman who served was very generous and hospitable! We'll definitely be back for their lunch time dim sum.
One of the worst dim sum services in Montreal. The cart ladies were rude, they did not provide us with adequate sauces for our different orders, they were ill equipped for serving food. The choices of dim sum were very limited. Their waitresses were unhelpful and unpleasant. They made us feel uncomfortable to ask them for anything at all. When came time to pay the bill. Needless to say 15% tip would have been exaggerated and too generous, so we took the liberty to hold back. Only to get a comment from our waitress about not tipping enough... are you freakin' serious?!
Overall extremely disappointed with the service and the lack of variety of dim sums. I would not recommend this restaurant to any one, at least not for their dim sum service.

I went for dim sum and although I found the squid excellent, my partner found the food too salty.
Good food in my opinion but you'll take a gamble eating at ruby red.
We have been here twice, the first time we had a menu off their set menu list and the other time we had dim sum. Both times were hit and miss, some of the dishes were good, these were mainly the vegetable dishes, and other dishes were just not good. The set menu we chose was quite reasonable for the price (we had beef, shrimp, chicken and duck all for something like $42.99+). The food was ok, not the greatest. The dim sum was better, we loved the BBQ pork steamed buns and the chinese broccoli and the baby squid, but the fried meat dumplings were terrible-very gluggy and heavy and difficult to get down and the crab claw was not worth $4. All in all I would go back for dim sum, but be more careful in choosing the dishes.
Now onto the service which is a whole other story, both times the servers were rude and disinterested, and we had to wait ages to be seated though the place was empty.
NEVER EVER GO TO ITS KTV.
Hidden extra charges for cheap drinks that should have been included.
We were three and were told for only $13 per hour per person. So we should pay less than $40 (since tax is included in all ktv).
BUT,We ended up paying $66...
btw.Let me tell you.
Rubis rouge is definitely NOT "vrai chinois
We went there for dim sum on a sunday morning. When we arrived at 1 P.M, there was very few people eating. (in a Chinese restaurant, this is always a bad sign) We were directed to a table that still had dirty dishes on it even though there were plenty of other clean 4 seater tables around. No one attended to us in five minutes, then a disgruntled worker who was chewing on something loudly, took the dirty dishes away. We couldn't get anything from the cart because we weren't given a dim sum sheet or plates and eating utensils. By the time we got our first food, it was 1:30 P.M. Food carts came sparsely for about another fifteen minutes. Then our waitress came to our table, yelled something at another waitress and changed the number on the dim sum order sheet. I could only guess she was getting off work and transferred us to a different waitress.
This is when the food carts stopped and we sat there for 15 minutes with our plates empty, with no idea what's going on, and still half hungry without anyone attending to us. Our new or old waitress was no where to be seen and when we finally flagged down a waiter, he explained to us that dim sum is over but they have afternoon snacks to order, he said you just need to fill the sheet. We were like "what sheet?" apparently we were suppose to be given a afternoon snack sheet to fill by our waitress who mysteriously disappeared.
We saw our waitress right after we paid at the counter (yet still left her a good tip) with her mouth full of food.

Go to this resto often since grandparents like it and also the wait is not as long because resto is really big. The food is not bad most of the time. For dim sum some stuff are cold depending what time you go. The restaurant is disorganized. You can witness staff screaming at each other to get stuff done in front of you. Also when you want something, staff members can tell you to ask another waiter or staff to get it. They simply tell you " im not in charge if this section ask the person responsable for you section for it." The good part of this is they dont know who is responsable for the section, so you have to stop all the waiters around to find the one for your section. Awful....!!! They dont clean your tables and it takes forever to get what you want. The quickest thing they get done is giving you the bill, hence the tip go directly to the waiter who bills you and not shared amoungst the group. There was this one waitress who for once cleaned our table but in the middle of it someone asked for teh bill and she immediately put all the plates back on the table and served the people who want the bill. And our table was left uncleaned till we left.
The waiters often look upset and would give you attitude when approached.. then even scold you when they dont understand what you want.
The resto staff are nice to non asians. And if you want a table quick ask for a table for even # of people. ie 2,4,6 people and not 3. Apparently a table for 3 and a table for 4 is "different". You will get a table faster if you are 4 as oppose to 3!
Went there on chinese New Year with a tour group and guide. The typical chinese new year meal was a farce at 25$ a head it was a big rip off left the place looking for food and that I thought was impossible in chinatown for that price. The service was arrogant like I have never seen and that was with other patrons not me.
I can not recommend this establishement.
We have enjoyed eating in Chinatown and generally know what to avoid. Ruby Rouge can be good but they have a bad habit of inconsistent service level.
When we went for dim sum on November 18, 2007 it was a disaster. Ok, restaurants have problems. But when you combine poor attitude of the waitress and bad service to boot, then spill food on the guest, it's time for the restaurant to offer to pay the bill and do the dry cleaning.
This restaurant's manager on duty did not even apologize when we brought the matter to their attention. "It was an accident" is just stupid.
Skip the tip. Skip this restaurant. We cannot recommend this place ever again. To anyone.
