49th Parallel Micro-Torréfacteur Cafe opens its doors in Montreal at its first ever location outside of British Columbia in the summer of 2021. Finding and creating this space was a long, occasionally challenging but always interesting process that took over a year to complete!
The space itself, its location in the heart of Old Montreal and the building’s history were an obvious draw. This was a labour of love from all the people involved in the project, from the contractor to the designer – everyone came together to preserve the charm of the old building with its exposed 100 year old bricks and stone masonry while bringing it to life with a sleek retro design.
Our fourth Café features the 49th coffee everyone knows and loves, Lucky’s donut menu revamped with reimagined Quebec classics and a full kitchen featuring breakfast egg burgers and seasonal brunch offerings (coming soon).

10/10 donuts, caffeine, & atmosphere. Great spot to work as there is ample space. Limited outlets though. Baristas & FOH team is all very kind. In the summer there's a lovely patio to the side to sit under the sun.View more
Good coffee, good vibe. Often packed with folks working but you'll find high chair & a lounge in the back, so grab a coffee & enjoy a delicious donut 🍩View more
I ordered 3 donuts, which felt a bit overpriced. There must've been a mistake with the salted caramel one because it was SO salty, it felt like they dropped the salt shaker in the icing. The filled one was filled only half way, disappointing. The third one (berry glazed) was great.View more
Omg ... I have realised how this place is from the inside ... they have a variety of pastries & donuts which are delicious.. Place is usually crowded ... not for someone who wants to sit & talk ...View more
Lovely place, nice staff but everything is so much overpriced for what you get. The donuts are good but some lacks a bit of flavour. Specialty coffee is very good but you can find equivalent elsewhere. I don't care paying a premium for something special but still, I think this is overpriced. You should try it & judge by yourself if it's worth the price.View more
Donuts are great. Also have brunch food until 3pm dailyView more
When an Americano makes you go wow & the donut selection & taste are superb....I am a tough crowd for coffee places, even the layout & decor of the place are well done. Great place all around.View more
Super yummy chai, sweet donuts, a bit busy & loud but great to grab & goView more
Very good lattes & a tempting selection of lucky donuts. Nice seating in the back by the Expresso counter.View more
Great cafe! It was busy but they have a fair amount of seating. The donuts were really delicious.View more
I ordered a box of 8 donuts via ubereats, the description stated it would have 4 filled & 4 regular donuts. I received 1 filled donut & 7 boring normal donuts... One of which was super stale/hard. You can imagine my disappointment upon opening the box & not even finding 4 filled donuts! Super disappointing for 35$. They didn't read my instructions specifically requesting certain flavours, either. I wanted some tiramisu donuts as I was specifically craving them but didn't even get one in the box. The donuts are tasty & the service in person is good, the workers are kind, but beware you may get a sad pick of donuts if you order an assorted box. I've had their hot chocolate & it was almost 9$ & pretty disappointing...View more
I go to a lot of cafés, & this one is officially my favourite one. It has a lot of spaces. You can sit alone, or with a group of friends. There's quiet spaces & open spaces. The decoration is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance is very much feels fancy & expensive, but the artwork makes it more inviting & hippie. They serve donuts & cafés both a really high quality. I am in love with the worlds because they're not overly sweet in the coffee just feels really good quality. I also like the colour theme of Tiffany, turquoise & gold. & the logo at the café 49 Parallel is a magnificent touch. Overall really a big fan of this café.View more
My go to cafe in downtown Montreal. Their donuts are too good. I have tried their tiramisu & I don't regret having sugars lolView more
The PB & J donut was full of jam & it was a nice & big square-shaped donut. The Tiramisu donut was filled with a runny honey mascarpone cream & it was decadentView more
Overpriced coffee for a not very good coffee, if you like to enjoy a cafe with nice interior this is an okay place but however the coffee is not the best some of the baristas here lack skills & they might mess up your latte art so if you're looking for a cute social media picture you may want to consider your options it was a hit or miss for me a few times I went there & every time I ordered a coffee was either the prettiest latte art or the most terrible looking like a drawing from a 6 year old, ambiance & presentation is very important for a $7 coffee(small) & after I mentioned this to the barista she told me to "just think of it as abstract art" & didn't even offer to redo it, especially in the area of old port you can find so many great cafes with great coffees & aesthetically appealing, this place is more like a donut house where you can also get coffee with it so more like a fancy overpriced Krispy Kreme. very disappointed in the presentation & the attitudeView more
Ordered a mocha & donut (traditional vanilla). Both were good. The environment was cozy. Nice place for grabbing a coffeeView more
We passed by for some coffee & lucky's doughnuts & quite frankly... Both were underwhelming. The place was absolutely packed, & rolling. The line never got smaller the entire time we were there so we can only conclude that it is pretty popular. Honestly, we're not sure why. The coffee is extremely acidic & bitter. Not at all warm comfort you want on the type of cold windy day we were experiencing. As for the donuts, the level of freshness left a lot to be desired. There are many different flavours with various fillings & toppings but the overall quality does not really justify the price. As previously stated ; there were a lot of people & we were still served fairly quickly, which is a positive. The ability of the staff to manage under pressure is important at a busy coffee shop but otherwise overall a dissapointing product all around. Will not return, would not recommend to anyone we like.View more
Kinda disappointed because I went there around 1-2h & I was really hoping to have their donuts. I saw good reviews online but after arriving there the cassier told me that they only have the peanut butter one & weren't gonna have any more donuts for the day. Which I found strange because they're technically known for them & it was only 1-2h pm. Other than that, I like the place itself. Calm, not too loud & it's a nice place to study.View more
good food, a little pricey (1 donut is like 6 or 7 $)View more
Donuts are huge & amazing flavour, as is their coffee options. (Real coffee flavour) Available hot or iced for most beverages. Seating & atmosphere was very pretty.View more
The coffee is fine, baristas also, the highlight for me was more than one flavor of gluten-free donuts (if you go early enough), a bit sweet but firm so perfect spot for take-out breakfast/afternoon treat.View more
Great donuts! I don't drink coffee, but it's a nice place to be. Great service!View more
