Great service, plenty food per person but the lobster bisque could have been hotter and the steak seasoning was too salty. Fabulous dessert and coffee. First time but probably last time.
Je suis aller le samedi 22 Décembre 2018, c'était ma 4e fois cette année et une première pour ma blonde qui a pu finalement y aller (spécial Noël). La nourriture en général est vraiment de bon goût (cher pour certains produits) et le service était de très bonne qualité comme j'y était habituer. Je suggère aux gens de l'essayer au moins une fois pour aller dans un restaurant de plus haut-de-gamme. Ma note générale est de 4.25 sur 5.
on m'a souvent recommander 40 west , je suis aller avec un ami on a pris assiette filet mignon et langoustine , le filet mignon était trop sec et gouter rien et leurs langoustine était trop cuite et se défaisait en miette , très désappointé plus jamais je remet les pieds .
This restaurant is very nice and beautifully decorated, but the food and service could use some help.
Had the surf and turf , 6 oz. filet mignon with 2 scrimp, the filet was burnt on the outside, which gave it a nasty flavor even though the inside was pink.
Don't order the black cod, tasteless....really need a new recipe or new chef,I've never had worse black cod , unable to finish even half of the small portion.
The octopus entrée was very good.
Wine list is good and reasonable for this type of restaurant at three times SAQ prices. We had a simple Brusciatto at $70.
our service was slow and inattentive.
With tax and tip $287 for two.
Food / service is simply not good enough to merit this pricing.
I would not recommend it.
Loved it. Everything was amazing. The food was top quality. The ambience was electric. There is very little to be improved upon.
WOW, Totally amazing. A real west island classic. No need to waste your money on new comers , go for the sure thing and go to 40 Westt.
Our drinks on the rocks tasted watered down even upon arrival with more ice than drink. Food was mundane at best, even the baked potato and whipped butter lacked any richness in taste. The medium rib steak that we ordered was medium on the inside but blackened on the outside like charcoal, and tasteless despite being sprinkled with spice and garlic as if they were added afterwards. The other dish was accompanied by a soggy heap of cooked bland spinach when according to the menu should have been served with home fries or a choice between garlic sautéed spinach or wild rice. What a disappointment!
The service was adequate.
We were a group of 25 people for a birthday party. The service was horroble, we had arrived at 8pm and we started eating at 11pm , it took so long to get the food and the drinks. This restaurant was highly recommended but for the price we paid the service and tbe food were horrible. I would never go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I find that the price is way over-rated. Too expensive. The meat is good but the rest is really average at best. There are other restaurants with better food, service and atmosphere.

...need I say more? After having resided in the New York City area for almost ten years, 40 W. brought me right back to the Big Apple. The restaurant is impressive and elegant, without being stuffy; the settings are immaculate, and the service is conducted in the utmost professionalism.
Naturally, as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for! Fast food, it ain't, but if your looking for a memorable Montreal-area dining experience, 40 W. makes for a memorable choice.
came here for my birthday, we had a great time the waiter was professional and attentive, the food was great the wine list is excellent the restaurant is beautiful .. love how fresh everything is.

Personnellement.. Hyper decu en general pour en ce qui attrait la nourriture et le service... À part l'etablissement immense et wow.. Une carte de vin pour absolument tous les gouts et budget.. La nourriture qualité prix est vraiment mediocre... Beef carpacio similaire a un sushi a volonté.. Sans amour dans la presentation... Pieuvre cuit non uniformement, mais bien... Pour le prix.. Bof bof... Le poisson les huitres sont frais.. Lamb chops... c'etait vriament pas de la qualité cote cuisson et viande... Serieux... Le service.. Charmante demoiselle.. Busy mais au moins elle s'est excuser... Manquait un serveur.. Mais reste.. Les entrée sont arrivé Bang!! Tous en mm temps... Sans explication ou rien... Ok pas besoin mais a ce prix... C'est comme garocher.. Ils t'allèchent la bouche juste dans la presentation des plats... Serieux.. Pour le prix...

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent decor. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars for the service - we went in the dead of winter, and it was freakin' cold in there!! I'm not the kind of person who's always cold; however, I had to put my winter coat on, and I was still freezing! It must have been only 15 degrees Celsius in there. They didn't bother to turn up the heat, even though we and some other customers eventually had to move to warmer sections of the restaurant. 40 West, if you're going to charge that much, I think you can afford to boost up the heat, or fine-tune the atmosphere control.
I took my family (we were 6 all together)to dine at 40Westt on my son`s 28th birthday.
I had not dine at 40Westt in many years, since I moved to Toronto. However I was disapointed in the way the waiter was working strictly on building the bill, it was not even subtil and quite tacky.
Now I do not know if it is the inexperience of the waiter or just the politics of the Management who pushes the waiters to bring in the money but it was disapointing and I think it cheapens the experience; I do not recommend the 40Westt for this sole reason, it is insulting to the customers.

L'emplacement ne paye à priori pas de mine- proximité d'axes routiers fréquentés et d'un centre commercial-. Cependant une fois passée la porte de cet établissement, c'est un restaurant de très bon standing que découvre le visiteur. La salle est immense, la décoration soignée. La qualité des plats - notamment les viandes qui semblent etre la spécialité bien que les fruits de mer et poissons tiennent bien leur place- est irréprochable, la cuisson est juste. La carte des vins est intéressante. Service excellent de bout en bout. Un bon moment.
