UPDATE
been 2 more times after my initial review & was disappointed. They changed their recipe based on some comments from people because xiao long bao go get that soup requires gelatin & fat & apparently that upset some people. Please, do not go to other cultures then ask them to modify the recipes, go elsewhere or order regular dumplings. I wish they didn't fold to these requests. I don't know if they reverted it back to the original recipe since. It just wasn't as juicy & as good because of the modifications. Sammi soup dumpling it is!
ORIGINAL review:
DELICIOUS, you must try, will be back again.
Had xiao long bao, the pork was sold out :( got the chicken & mushroom & it was so good. Also had the beef curry dumpling & pork coriander pan fried dumpling & the cucmber entree. Every single thing was perfectly delicious. Very flavorful, juicy, tender, the right texture for the filling & the skin (all home made) & the skin was just thin enough. Loved all of it! There is a lady that sits at the front making dumplings non stop.
I'd suggest doing dine in for xiao long bao, I don't think you'll get the same experience with take out or delivery. There are a few tables inside, nicely lit, it's a cute spot to eat in. The lady serving us (one of the 3 madames that own this joint) was super sweet.
You can also order water or tea (& tea isn't charged extra) so it's a great authentic Chinese experience :) Highly recommend! I want to try everything on the menu.
amazing quality dumplings, savory & chunky. cute menu. have tried a few dumpling places but have been coming back here many times since my discovery; for dine-in & delivery. my favorites are the xiao bao long broth dumplings chicken/shrimp/scallop & the chicken/mushroom/shrimp & I keep coming back for those especially! also had the fried buns with beef curry, beef & corn dumplings & the wonton soup waw! even the dumplings in the little soup were well filled. love this place
First time! I had wonton soup & dumplings - sooo good! The broth was delicious, & I loved the thin, delicate dumpling wrapper. Will definitely order again!
Absolutely amazing dumplings. So fresh & a great variety. Felt very authentic. We especially loved the Siumai & Wonton soup 🙌 Also very reasonable & quality.
Cute little gem. I tried a couple different dumplings with the'chefs choice' so they pick the popular ones & bring them. The lamb dumpling was delicious. You can pick steamed or fried. The wonton soup was good too. The fried dumplings are my fave personally. Would definitely come back!
The bbq pork buns are really different than your dim sum style pork buns, more like pulled pork with less bbqness. Super good!! Loved everything we tried on the menu, we took dumplings from each meat section & the soup dumplings were delish.
The server was great, she noted that we have ordered too much & we were happy we took a few items off as we still didnt finish all the food. Will be back sans doute:)
The soup dumplings several were broken. The vegetarian dumplings were distasteful. Would not recommend. The dessert sesame balls were over cooked.
Personnel adorable. Grande variété au menu. Bons dumplings mais pas incroyable. Dommage que ce ne soit pas des soupes dumplings. Les takoyaki sont super par contre, avec des bouts de pieuvre dedans.
Hard to find something to complain about this place. Placed an order by phone & the lady was unbelievably nice & cooperative. She even let me know that it was cheaper to place an order by phone than by Uber/DD (highly recommend doing that!). The food was immaculate. I've tried a lot of dumplings in Mtl & none compares to these. Dumplings overflow with flavor, even if it's just pork & chives. They fried them to perfection; not too little, not too much. Takoyakis were perfectly cooked; crispy outside, melting in the middle with plenty of squid bits. & their wonton soup tastes like REAL wonton soup, none of that dishwasher water tasting crap from other takeouts. Clearly a spot that knows how to put love in their craft! Will most definitely come back!
Amazing food but terrible service. Seems to be a trend in most Asian places in Montreal. But the food here was actually really good & I would definitely have it again but probably take out next time. We started with the hot & sour soup which was warm & hearty. Next we had the popcorn chicken, let me tell you they were pretty big, juicy & freshly fried. They were lightly breaded too & easily exceeded my expectations. For the dumplings we had the classic pork Xiaolongbao & the veggie options were the best I ever tried for veggie dumplings in montreal.
My partner & I were recommended this place & we are so happy about this discovery! Will definitely go back, pork & chives dumplings were amazing, general Tao chicken w/rice super tasty, wonton soup as well, we absolutely enjoyed it! Thanks again & see you soon!
Legit, authentic Asian comfort food. Super friendly. Like your Chinese auntie who stewards the family dumpling recipe. You remember her teaching you how to make them when you were a kid, but as an adult you can't quite get the filling to be so flavourful. So you visit your auntie again, desperate for that taste. & she never lets you down. That's 3 Madames Dumplings! Go here & order steamed dumplings & wonton soup & try their other things besides!
I ordered beef & onion fried dumplings & classic pork xiao long bao. Unlike the reviews I read, the beef & onion were dry - not a drop of juiciness. I had higher hopes for the xiao long bao but these were even worse - there wasn't a drop of soup in them - in fact they were as dry as the beef & onion dumplings but with a very bland flavour. These I had to send back because they weren't soup dumplings in any possible respect. Hopefully I was here on an off day. The service was good & the place, while completely basic, is clean.
The food was great! The weather is getting warmer so we order some salad & soup. Strongly recommend the cucumber & the soup aigre-piguant. The cucumber was sweet & sour, it tasted refreshing. The costomer service was great! Radish was on the house, it tasted great too!hope they can add it to the menu so we can order it next time!
We had the steamed & fried pork dumplings & they were so freaking juicy & delicious! It's been a while since I had dumplings that good. We also ordered the cucumber salad & the wonton soup, also very fresh ( didn't get a picture, finished it too quickly). The chef herself was so kind & made sure everything was alright. Finished off our lovely meal with the quesillo dessert 😋 will definitely come back!
Gotta love a dumpling place like this. Low key decor, simple menu, but everything was delicious. We tried a wide variety of dumplings, from the peanut butter sauced entree to Xiao Long Bao, Siumai & fried dumplings, everything was great. The hot & sour soup, tea & complimentary salad were excellent. Friendly service & great value. Unpretentious comfort food, highly recommended.
So glad to have found this place on Wellington. There's always a line up on Sainte-Catherine restaurants but this one is just as good if not better. Dumplings are freshly made. Friendly service, I've tried their steamed & pan fried dumplings & both were amazing. Today tried the Xiao long bao (dumpling with soup inside) & it was great as well. Hot & sour soup was good too, not the best I've had, Beijing in Chinatown has a great H&S soup.
My supper companion & I had a delicious & satisfying meal in this small, but very tidy, neat & clean new restaurant. My entree was the hot & sour soup- flavour jazzed up slightly with about a dz drops of table brown vinegar. Next timed perfectly, arrived a dish of pork strip noodles- just the right piquancy for this'white boy". My confrere thoroughly enjoyed the General Tao with sticky rice. We mixed both for a more varied tasting experience. Unbidden, the young, solicitous waiter trotted out some complimentary fermented while radish (similar to a good sauer kraut), in itself just tangy enough to entice. I felt better using the house chop sticks, rather than wasting yet more throw away paper packaged wood ones supplied in too many other dumpling places. Thank you for being greener. The austerity of the white walls, white ceiling & white (plastic though comfortable) chairs was muted somewhat, with more natural coloured beige table tops, & contrasting dark brown table-ware. A row of white framed pictures of edible delectables range along one wall. The tableware was all acceptably ergonomic for the purpose except for the soup spoons. The recurve in the handle would maybe suit a child's small fingers but was too short for my average sized hand; this small discomfort was offset by featuring a bowl deeper than in many similar eateries. Service was prompt, courteous & more than adequate. & unlike too many restaurants, they offered a default tip as low as 10%. Bravo for not being too presumptuous, as another resto I frequent starts at 18% . Music was mainly piano & violin arrangements of popular songs, but not too loud. Madame Dumplings, you will definitely see me again... with more friends in tow.
