This is just a joke I love both establishments. I had the xiao long bao which had very generous fillings. I tried some of the general Tao chicken as well & did also enjoy it. I enjoyed the meal so much I almost forgot to take the picture for the ginger ale review but rest assured I did take a photo to commemorate the meal
Fresh dumplings which have never let me down. Still, my favorite's probably the addictive popcorn chicken side.
Only weakness in the menu would be the curry; it's perfectly adequate, & the portion's good, but it's not spicy & just a little bland.
Really great value & taste in the fried buns, but if you take these to-go, ask them not to close/staple the bag; steam condensates in the little box if it cannot escape, & while the buns won't turn soggy, it's still better without that.
Service is friendly & solid, the plating is good, no complaints. You can expect 15-20 before tax for a decent meal, but it's dangerously easy to add more. I mean what's just another twelve dumplings right?
Even the location's good; this is immediately next to awesome ice cream puffs.
Everything was excellent, but the salad dressing & the sauce for the General Tao's chicken was a bit too sweet.
UPDATE
been 2 more times after my initial review & was disappointed. They changed their recipe based on some comments from people because xiao long bao go get that soup requires gelatin & fat & apparently that upset some people. Please, do not go to other cultures then ask them to modify the recipes, go elsewhere or order regular dumplings. I wish they didn't fold to these requests. I don't know if they reverted it back to the original recipe since. It just wasn't as juicy & as good because of the modifications. Sammi soup dumpling it is!
ORIGINAL review:
DELICIOUS, you must try, will be back again.
Had xiao long bao, the pork was sold out :( got the chicken & mushroom & it was so good. Also had the beef curry dumpling & pork coriander pan fried dumpling & the cucmber entree. Every single thing was perfectly delicious. Very flavorful, juicy, tender, the right texture for the filling & the skin (all home made) & the skin was just thin enough. Loved all of it! There is a lady that sits at the front making dumplings non stop.
I'd suggest doing dine in for xiao long bao, I don't think you'll get the same experience with take out or delivery. There are a few tables inside, nicely lit, it's a cute spot to eat in. The lady serving us (one of the 3 madames that own this joint) was super sweet.
You can also order water or tea (& tea isn't charged extra) so it's a great authentic Chinese experience :) Highly recommend! I want to try everything on the menu.
amazing quality dumplings, savory & chunky. cute menu. have tried a few dumpling places but have been coming back here many times since my discovery; for dine-in & delivery. my favorites are the xiao bao long broth dumplings chicken/shrimp/scallop & the chicken/mushroom/shrimp & I keep coming back for those especially! also had the fried buns with beef curry, beef & corn dumplings & the wonton soup waw! even the dumplings in the little soup were well filled. love this place
The food is amazing! In particular, i recommend crevette, poulet, & mushrooms (shrimp, chicken & mushrooms). The service is also great, the staffs were very welcoming. High recommend.
Small & authentic restaurant, welcoming & kind hosts, service & food were great.
Highlights of the meals: peanut butter wontons, beef & coriander buns, edamame & general tao chicken.
We got two chicken dumplings. The taste was very good but we both got upset stomachs. I think they were very busy so they didn't cook throughly.
Lovely place! Good service & the food was flavourful, the owners (?) were also extremely sweet
Personally ordered:
- C1 veggie imperial rolls (1pc, which gives two as seen in the picture)
- C7 shrimp wontons (8pcs)
- D18 zucchini, corn, carrot, & mushroom dumplings (6pcs)
- D20 egg & tomato dumplings (6pcs) that were replaced by egg & chive ones (D19)
All amounted to 27.30$ with tax excluding the tip.
Friend ordered the G1 tao chicken for 15$, 17.25$ with tax. They said it tasted good as well
Owner was apologetic of the fact they couldn't provide egg & tomato dumplings as they had ran out, but the chive ones were delicious too! They also gave picked radish & cucumbers as a side on the house, my friend & I enjoyed eating them too
They have some guava candy at the desk where you pay as well, it was a little nostalgic sweet treat
Overall, super cute place! We'll definitely come again when possible, thank you for the food & service!
