Rumi
Mile-End
Service
Nourriture
3.0

I have eaten at Rumi's a few time over the past years. I love the exotic and warm decor. The service can be slow, but it's part of the relaxed ambience, so don't go there if you are in a rush, but do go with someone whose company you enjoy. The food goes from delicious (ie: the chicken tajine) to mediocre. I have had some mutton dish there that was full of fat and gristle, some mesclun salad that was partly wilted and doused in vinegary dressing, and when I failed to finish it and mentioned it to the waiter, he came back from the kitchen telling me that the chef was wondering why I ate half if it was so bad and that I should know that the etiquette in restaurants is to send it back right away, and since I hadn't done that there was nothing they could do for me. I was rather shocked by the reply, as I was actually not asking them to do anything for me but answering the waiter's usual "how did you like it?". It seemed rather inappropriate to me for both the chef and the young waiter to instruct me on restaurant etiquette rather than to deal with the issue of food glitch and customer satisfaction. Some other times I've had excellent service and food. All this to say that if you go there and the food is not up to par, send it back immediately. As long as you don't mind waiting....
