First impressions: Very chic, trendy decor, with a rather lively ambiance - even though I was there during a mid-week winter evening, with no more than 10-15 people in the place. Fits the bill very well for the 'trendy hot spot' description. Service: Very prompt and professional. Given, there were very few others there to compete for our waitress' attention - but nevertheless, the service was without incident. Menu: Quite pricey, although not entirely surprising given the location (Old Port). We were there primarily to try a specific item (their hamburger), and so I didn't spend much time looking at the other options -- although from what I remember, they looked quite enticing. Food: My wife actually ordered the tartare instead of the burger, and it was excellent (fresh, well-seasoned, beautifully presented). Our friend and I each ordered the burger, and were not disappointed in the least. If I remember correctly (it's been a few months), the burger came with fried onions as well as melted gruyere and blue cheeses, which together made for a surprisingly unique but excellent and very tasty combination, all complimented by a bun that was not too 'bready', but significant enough to hold it all together. The burger was enough to fill me up on its own, but the fries that came with it were so good that I was pretty much forced into eating them all as well. Price: Again, a little pricey, but pretty much par for the course for this type of restaurant. Summary: Trendy, lively, excellent food. Fits the bill for 'trendy hot spot' very well. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. If you go, be sure to try the burger.

My wife and I visited this restaurant after searching for BYOW sushi restaurants in Montreal, and seeing all of the positive reviews for it on this site. It was a bit of a drive for us (coming from the West Island), but the reviews seemed to imply that it would be worthwhile. They've done a commendable job on their website as well as on advertising through this site, but unfortunately after having dined there, I must say that our experience was entirely mediocre. First impressions: the restaurant itself is located in the corner unit of a somewhat-dated commercial building, and was a little difficult to spot at first. Usually I wouldn't care to mention this, except that the decor inside didn't improve much on the quite underwhelming facade presented on the outside, and didn't quite match what I'd expected based on the lovely pictures from the website. Also, because we were seated in the front corner of the restaurant, our view was mostly of the parking lot and industrial boulevard outside. As such, I wouldn't rank it very highly in terms of ambiance, especially when compared to many other Montreal-area sushi restaurants, which tend to do very well in this department. Menu: Slightly out of date - a number of the items on the menu given to us were either not available or were not as described. The prices and menu selections were quite standard. Again, this is a BYOW restaurant, which is a big plus. Service: We seemed to alternate between two servers, and neither appeared to be particularly experienced. They were very polite and courteous, but not very prompt or particularly organized. Food: The appetizers were quite standard (I believe we ordered gyoza and sashimi). The sushi that we ordered for our main dish was certainly not terrible, but not particularly exciting. It should be said that we make sushi ourselves relatively often at home, and so when we go out, we're looking to be blown away. And while certainly not terrible, the sushi we had was quite underwhelming. Summary: I really wanted to like this restaurant, especially after seeing the effort put into their website, advertising, and having read all of the other positive reviews here. Unfortunately, it's just not all that good, especially given all of the other choices you have for sushi in Montreal. Given, it's a BYOW, which is a definite plus - but I would probably only go back for lunch, and only if I was in the area.

I've eaten at this restaurant on at least four different occasions over the past year, each time for dinner, with party sizes varying from 2 to 10 people. I've never had anything short of an excellent experience. First impressions: nice decor, charming ambiance - better than any other Indian restaurant in Montreal I can think of (most are strikingly lacking in this department). The candles on the interior brick wall add a really nice element to the decor. When seated at the large front windows (open during the summer), you get a lovely view of the Ste. Anne's waterfront, as well as the many people walking by - great for people-watching! Menu: Nice variety of appetizers, as well as a solid number of choices for your main dish (including a good many vegetarian choices). I've ordered from the lamb, beef and chicken choices, and never been disappointed. Problem is - I can never remember what I've ordered after the fact, especially since I and guests usually pass our dishes around the table, so that by the end of the night I've tried three or four different items from the menu. As such, I've never really identified a favourite, as truth be told, I've liked them all (and can never remember which was which in the first place). We've had a vegetarian friend accompany us once, and she was very happy with her meal. You can get rice or naan with your meal. I don't think I've ever ordered the rice, but the naan is superb. Service: No complaints. Price: Excellent. I seem to remember most main meat dishes being around $12, so all in all it makes for a very affordable evening. Summary: Highly recommended. Top-notch food every time I've visited. Ambiance perfectly suited for a casual dinner with friends, as well as for a more romantic evening for two. One of my favourite restaurants in Montreal.
