Decided to "live a little" and have a nice steak dinner in the Old Port before catching a Cirque performance. Used the restomontreal website to choose the restaurant and finally decided on Vieux Port Steakhouse. My overall impression of the place was very good. Was quiet that day (though possibly everyone was on the terrace). It's a cozy restaurant with a very friendly staff. Apologized profusely when they couldn't make a drink for us because the blender wasn't working. Food was pretty good: crab cake appetizers were delicious; had the rib steak and was happy with it. Friend ordered from the Table d'Hote and enjoyed it as well (though wasn't sure what to make of the lobster tian). Was expecting a little more with the price I paid, but then again, it was in the Old Port. Can't say it's the best steak I've tasted or been to, but still good nonetheless.
This retro looking new establishment in Ville Saint-Laurent is a great place to wine and dine. What's there not to like about a BYOB place? I went there one weekend for dinner and was surprised how busy it was even at 8:30pm (I'd definitely recommend that you make a reservation). The service was great and the manager was extremely friendly. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening.
