😢 Unfortunately, 2 restaurant(s) mentionned in this article closed since our last update: Le Uptown - 5265 Chemin Queen Mary, Le Uptown - 56 Rue Notre Dame O

This February, Montreal marks the 34th edition of Black History Month, a time dedicated to honoring the invaluable contributions of Black communities in every sphere-art, business, and, of course, gastronomy. Under the theme "All That We Are", this year's celebration highlights the diversity and richness of Black cultural expressions that shape our city.

Montreal's vibrant food scene is a testament to this legacy, with Black chefs and restaurateurs sharing their heritage through bold flavors and innovative dishes. From West African specialties to Caribbean delicacies, Black cuisine offers a delicious journey of tradition and creativity.

Throughout the month, various events and special collaborations will shine a spotlight on these culinary talents, giving Montrealers the chance to discover, taste, and support Black-owned restaurants. Exclusive menus, tastings, and chef-led experiences will showcase the depth and influence of Black gastronomy in the city.

As Montreal embraces this month of celebration and reflection, let's take the opportunity to explore, savor, and uplift the incredible restaurants that bring passion, culture, and excellence to our culinary landscape.

Kwizinn

311 Rue Saint-Paul E, Montréal, H2Y 1H3

View More (514) 419-3311

In Old Montreal, where there's no shortage of sought-after addresses, Kwizinn stands out for its energy and vibrant soul. At the helm, Mike Lafaille fashions a cuisine that resembles his own: bold, expressive and rooted in a heritage that he sublimates with finesse. His talent lies in the perfect balance between respect for tradition and the desire to innovate. On weekends, the brunch attracts lovers of intense flavors. The marinated fried chicken, wrapped in soft bread, plays with the contrasts between sweetness and spiciness. The tropical wrap, generously garnished, overflows with exotic flavors and pairs perfectly with a fruity cocktail. Each plate tells a story, supported by masterful spices and textures designed to surprise. As night falls, Kwizinn changes tempo. On Thursdays, the hushed notes of jazz accompany conversations, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere. But what makes Kwizinn an address not to be missed is its ability to evolve with the moment, to capture the moment, and to invite those who walk through its doors to come back again and again.
