My daughter suddenly had a craving for dumplings when his brother was getting a haircut in Chinatown so we decided to try Mai Xiang Yuan. The place was not full when we went in around 12:15 pm but it suddenly became full after 15 minutes. We ordered the following: (1) Fried Lamb & onion dumplings, (2) Pork, mushroom, and shrimp dumplings, and (3) Pork & shrimp dumplings in soup. The place may not be fancy looking but the dumplings we had were very savory. We've tried a few of the dumplings place near the area but none got our approval in terms of taste. That's why we were so happy to discover this. As one posted in his review, truly a "diamond in the rough." The service was great. The staff were all smiling (you can see the people making the dumplings; so, we took the opportunity to see how they prepared our food). The time it took for our order to be served is quite acceptable. We never had the chance to see/ use the restroom. We were in and out of the place in 30 minutes and we ate 40 dumplings (total). As my daughter simply put it, "HAPPY TUMMY MAMA!"
Never tried Peruvian cuisine but on our 8th wedding anniversary, my husband & I (with our 2 kids) decided to try this place. We ordered: (1) ceviche tres toques (2) mar y tierra (3) lomo saltado (4) salchipapas Each of us enjoyed (and shared) our meal. We were served cancha y los chifles as we were waiting for our ceviche. The serving is hefty so you may want to hold back on trying everything on the menu in one visit. My 7 and 4-year old kids shared the salchipapas. "Thumbs up" according to my two kids. The prices on the menu are acceptable if you consider the serving size. Oh, you may want to try their Pisco sour drink. Service was great. The ambiance is quite classy yet relaxed. We will definitely go back to this place to try more peruvian cuisine.
Opens from 5:30am-5pm. The restaurant has nice interior; very clean. The staff was courteous. The restaurant has great menu variety. We were served accordingly. The serving is quite big so you may want to share it with someone if you're not into eating heavy meals. From flambées, crêpes, omelettes; fruits, refreshments; burgers, sandwiches; to healthy options - they have it. My family enjoyed Special Allô Mon Coco, Eggs Benedict & Crêpe bretonne stuffed with bananas and chocolate.
The staff is very helpful. The food was good and served timely. Parking (downtown) might present a bit of a challenge.
"All-you-can-eat" deal here is very good, whether it's lunch or dinner . I like their sushi, not much a fan of their szechuan selections though. Make sure to order only what you can finish, you don't want to pay extra for leftovers. If you have to order for the second time, give them the list 10-15 minutes before you finish the first batch of food you ordered so you don't wait long for your second serving. In terms of service, my family never had major problems. It's just that when the restaurant is full, the orders may come in a few minutes longer. We always come back to this place everytime we have craving for sushi.
Great food. Huge serving (and we ordered the "smallest" serving) Superb service. It's quite noisy inside that you have to talk louder to talk with your company (but who cares). Definitely will be back to try the other stuff on the menu.
