Service was bad. We were a party of four. The wait to be seated for the three that arrived first was acceptable, but we had to look for the waitress when the fourth arrived &, even then, it took time before she came to take our orders & she was curt.
We ordered three club sandwiches & one spaghetti. The latter looked suspicious & was tasteless. The former were not triple deckers (menu lacked clarity) & were quite ordinary.
The atmosphere? Was there any? At least, bar the food & the service, the rest was not utterly shocking…
Next time I am at central station, I shall go to any of the other places offering food. I will have to go to a counter to order food, but I trust food will be better & service will better meet my expectations.
In other words, I definitely will avoid Deli Planet.
The worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Food is super mid. The waitress never checked on us we needed refills & ketchup she only brought out our drinks & I never saw her again but she kept checking the tables around us.
When I got up to pay I didn't tip her because the service was the worst I've ever had & the cashier literally confronted me asking if I was going to leave the tip in cash I said'no I don't have any cash' & she said'well it's a 15% tip for the waitress' & I said'no she never checked on my table & we needed ketchup & refills' & she just said'oh well sorry about that'. Who DEMANDS a tip? Especially when the service is terrible. Pass on this place you're better going off to McDonald's which is where I should've gone.
The price was also expensive & the food was bland.
They have'Poutine', not Poutine.
Real Poutine have cheese curd, not grated cheese.
Still tasty tho.
Had the smoked meat. Very disappointing. You're better off buying some from the supermarket. Fries were quite greasy. Service was good but the meal arrived rather late considering that there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. There are better places to eat.
I don't know why they have different prices for the same item. We ordered one sandwich, & she charged me $17 after tax. However, when we checked the self-service machine, the price after tax was only $14.30. We went back to ask her about it, & the price on the menu was $15 before tax. When we asked why we were charged $17 for the sandwich, she said it was because it was for takeout. So weird.
Anyway, I don't recommend buying food there. 🙁
C'était vraiment bon !
La serveuse algérienne super gentille grand sourire 😊
Visited Deli Planet on a recent Friday to watch some of the World Cup & attend one of their weekend comedy shows.
Before the show, I grabbed a seat at the bar for a meal & some drinks. I was able to watch the World Cup on the bar TV (& there are others TVs scattered around the restaurant).
The food menu has a wide selection of options, & everything I've tried has been really good. The food is priced fairly (which is rare these days), the kitchen is very fast, & the food is very good.
When the show was soon going to start, I moved to a different part of the restaurant, which was set up as a comedy club. The hosts & comedians were all very funny, & the audience all seemed to really enjoy the experience.
Throughout the evening, I was served by Alessandra. She was excellent. She provided fantastic food & drink service, & she was a lot of fun to interact with. She definitely gets 5 stars. I should also mention that the cocktails during the comedy show were all excellent (I had beer before the show).
Deli Planet is located in Montreal's Central Station. The restaurant clientele has a wide mix of people, but you will find many who work in the surrounding office towers & many travelers who are waiting for their train. It is in close proximity to many public transit options & is in the heart of downtown.
Before catching my train home from Montreal, I stopped into Deli Planet for pizza. Great decision for the food - &, as it turns out, a very fortunate decision for everything that happened afterward.
Somewhere between Montreal & Toronto, I realized my wallet hadn't made the trip with me. While I was hundreds of kilometres away imagining worst-case scenarios,
the team at Deli Planet had already found it, kept it safe, & went out of their way to help get it back to me.
What could have been a stressful & expensive ordeal became a story I can now laugh about, thanks to their honesty, kindness, & exceptional customer service. They treated a complete stranger with genuine care & made every effort to help.
The pizza was excellent, but it's the people I'll remember most. Nick & the team at Deli Planet turned a lost-wallet disaster into a reminder that there are still a lot of really good people in the world.
My wallet may have enjoyed an extended Montreal vacation, but thanks to Deli Planet, it eventually found its way home.
The next time I'm in Montreal, I'll definitely be back.
Food was pretty lousy & basic. Cheap, low quality ingredients (bread was gross).
