About us
In 1963, there was a Japanese baseball team known as YAKYU CICADAS. They were very popular with the whole city and the stadium was sold out for every home game. One of the stadium's most popular attractions, aside from the team, was the fried chicken stand owned by the Blind Chicken Farmer. People lined up to taste the special blend of spices, the quality and the love he put into every bite. But a dark side hovered over the team...
For 24 consecutive years, the Cigales finished every season with a 0-64 record. Yes, they never won a single game. The townspeople didn't care, because they still had excitement and reason to rejoice! The team was disbanded in 1987 when the league president had had enough, "I can't keep a team that can't win a game in our league any longer. It's a shame for Japan". He made the decision to put an end to the Cigales. The townspeople were devastated, what would they do without their beloved team? The blind chicken farmer had an idea! He bought the franchise and turned his popular fried chicken stand into a brick-and-mortar store called YAKYU FRIED CHICKEN. He would hire all the players to work in his restaurant as they had no more jobs. At first the players were completely against the idea and tried to be traded with other teams. But since the players were so horrible that no team wanted them, they reluctantly accepted the job. THE END!

WOW… incredible chicken
Visiting Montreal for the first time from Scotland & this was round the corner from our accommodation & we were so glad we popped in for dinner. Some of the best chicken I've ever had & the poutine was really good too. The homemade sauces are also excellent, especially the hot sauce. Would highly recommend this restaurant.View more

Je suis revenu à cette place parce que j'ai aimé leurs nourriture & service. Mais cette fois c'est très spécial car je suis arrivé à 21h01 pour commander en ignorant que le restaurant ferme à 21h00.
Malgré ça ils m'ont accueilli & pris ma commande.
Je suis tellement content que cette place fasse du vrai business en valorisant les valeurs humaines.

Après plusieurs années à manger du poulet frit & avoir raffiné ma palette en matière de volaille & de panure hehe, la quête est enfin finie... THIS IS THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN !! Pas juste de Longueuil, mais Montréal aussi & probablement le Québec en entier. Le gravy & la frite chili, tout simplement insane, sans fautes.
En plus les proprios étaient incroyablement smats & accueillant, l'ambiance était incroyable puis tout était singulièrement excellent. À ne pas manquer, bravo !!View more

After a gruelling badminton session at a local sports centre, my friends & I decided to get some fried chicken for dinner. Despite some initial reservations (Olivia's & dominos were right beside them & seemed to have much larger spaces), we ultimately settled to try the place out.
& what a good decision it was.
Right off the bat the owner was incredibly courteous & friendly as we made our order, offering us multiple sauces to try all on the house! The crispy chicken we ordered was superbly flavored, both the classic & tender versions, & the portions (especially the massive tenders) were extremely generous. Paired with exquisitely crunchy fries alongside a thick & flavorful gravy which was seasoned to perfection (I find some gravies to be a tad over-salty), they also had an amazing dill sauce which paired extremely well with the tenders.
P.S. Their coleslaw was, for me, the icing on the cake; a perfect balance of creamy & tangy - I usually never manage to stomach more than a few bites of the coleslaw which accompanies fried chicken, but here I could have eaten an entire cup without issue.View more
