Review Summary

Wonton Express is widely celebrated for its authentic Shanghainese-style cuisine, offering delicious, handmade wontons and flavorful soups at very affordable prices. While the restaurant features a utilitarian and no-frills atmosphere with limited decor, the quality of the food and the care put into each made-to-order dish consistently impress diners. Prospective visitors should be prepared for potential wait times, as meals are prepared individually and the kitchen operates with a smaller team. Despite the simple setting and occasional service delays, the restaurant remains a highly recommended destination for those seeking genuine, comforting, and high-quality traditional Chinese flavors in a quiet environment.

This place only serves pork meals-everything on the menu is pork. I didn't try the food since I don't eat pork, but even if they offered other options, I wouldn't eat here. The restaurant had a strong, unpleasant smell when I walked in, the cashier was unfriendly, & she didn't speak English or French.

Real deal Shanghainese wonton soup (seaweed, shrimp, white pepper, pork filling), tastes handmade.

Delicious food at affordable prices. Wait is a bit long. Nonetheless the wonton soup was a great portion for only $9.99. The Classic Siomai were huge & filled with tasty sticky rice, beans & ground meat. Service & decor are rather utilitarian (although they do have some plants against the wall). The food is where it's at!

Les wontons sont très bons & faits avec des produits frais. Il n'y avait personne dans la salle & nous y sommes aller un vendredi midi.

We walked into the restaurant & it was completely empty. No customer around, no one working around. There was also no music, just the sound of refrigerators. We walked to the cash register & there was still no one in the back. As we were about to leave, we saw someone pop up behind the cash register & we decided to give the food a try. We ordered one spicy wonton & one regular soup wonton. It took another 30 mins or so for the food to be served even though we were the only table. The owner did play some music which made the atmosphere a bit more enjoyable but the overall decor wasn't great. Mostly stock boxes & used walls. The food itself though was quite amazing. The flavours from the wonton were great & it paired so well with the different soups we tried. Furthermore, it was only around 10$ a bowl & it ended up being quite filling which was nice. We only saw the owner one more time when he served us the food & we never saw them again for the rest of the night even though we stayed at the restaurant for another hour or so.
