I had a very disappointing experience at Tru India regarding their service speed. I entered the restaurant at 9:20 PM & placed a simple order for a Paneer Wrap by 9:25 PM.
?Despite the restaurant being nearly empty-they were only serving two other tables-I was still sitting there at 10:00 PM without my food. Waiting 35+ minutes for a single wrap when the kitchen isn't busy is unacceptable.
?The service is extraordinarily slow, & there seemed to be no sense of urgency from the staff. If you are looking for a quick meal or even a reasonably timed one, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
The food was disappointing but the service is good. The waitress is very sweet & hard working.
But the food was not spiced well, didn't taste good.
We ordered the Rogan Josh, Palak Paneer, the Tandoori platter & Naans.
The Rogan Josh looked good in other reviews but it was an orange almost sour gravy that we got.
All the chicken in the tandoor platter was raw! Nothing was marinated either
The palak paneer was a saving grace but despite asking for spicy, it was not salted well & barely spiced.
I had a very disappointing & frustrating experience ordering through SkipTheDishes from this restaurant.
My order was confirmed, & after waiting almost 30 minutes, I received a call saying that one of the main items (Pindi Masala) was out of stock. This should have been checked BEFORE accepting the order. I had planned this as a surprise, & the delay completely ruined it.
I agreed to replace the item with Palak Paneer, but then I was told to pay an extra $2 without any clear way to make the payment. Shortly after, I was informed that the delivery driver had already left & couldn't wait any longer. This is extremely unprofessional.
To make things worse, the staff member I spoke with was rude & showed no understanding of the situation. Instead of offering a solution (like arranging another driver, adjusting the bill, or giving a credit), they simply told me to cancel the order myself-which wasn't even possible from my side.
After waiting nearly an hour & already paying, I received nothing. This level of service is unacceptable. Poor communication, lack of accountability, & zero customer service.
I would not recommend ordering from here unless they seriously improve how they handle orders & customers.
Please train your staff on customer service OR hire an experienced staff who atleast know how to handle the situations & customers .
Also, I want to clarify that my frustration is NOT because the item was out of stock. I completely understand that sometimes items become unavailable, & mistakes can happen - we are all human.
The real issue was how the situation was handled by the staff.
The staff member I spoke with was extremely rude & unprofessional. She was speaking in a very disrespectful tone & even came across as if she was yelling. There was no basic customer service etiquette, no empathy, & no effort to understand my situation.
This could have been easily resolved if handled properly - I was open to replacing the item or waiting longer. The problem was not the food, but the way the staff treated a paying customer.
Instead of offering any solution, I was told to cancel the order myself, which wasn't even possible. There was no accountability, no apology, & no attempt to fix the issue.
Very disappointing experience. The restaurant seriously needs to improve its customer service & train staff on how to handle with customers professionally.
Best Indian food in the west end & very reasonably priced. Tandoori chicken & the paneer were outstanding. Will definitely come back.
Took take out order of paneer tikka masala garlic naan & paneer pakoda! I have never seen garlic naan in montreal like this was soft even after getting cold ! Paneer Tikka masala perfect spice level & no extra oil ! People need to try it !
Good food! Good service :)
The butter naan could be better. But so colorful. Paneer was delicious.
We ordered multiple dishes - the eggplant, lamb rogan jhosh, chicken korma, spinach paneer etc. I like how they let you pick your spiciness level - we went medium on everything & it was just right. Some Indian restos are drifting towards adding sugar in most recipes, like the'Chinese' restaurants, but thankfully TruIndia keeps it real (& unsweetened!). Thanks for a great dinner!
I visited this place twice & really enjoyed the food. I tried naan, shahi paneer, & dal makhni - everything was tasty & satisfying. The prices felt a little on the higher side, but the quality & service made up for it. I'd love to see more variety on the menu, maybe adding dishes like pav bhaji. Overall, great service & I'm looking forward to visiting again!
Try the paneer lababdar! it's incredible. We have come for a year now, their service & quality is always impeccable :)
Okay… I don't usually write reviews, but this place seriously blew me away.
We ordered butter chicken, soya tandoori chaap, samosa chaat, cheese naan, & paneer tikka-& honestly, every single thing was INCREDIBLE.
The butter chicken was rich & comforting, not overly sweet like some places. The soya chaap was smoky & tender-I almost forgot it wasn't meat.
Samosa chaat hit all the right notes: crunchy, tangy, & addictive.
That cheese naan? Just wow-cheesy in the best way, not greasy or heavy. It was so unexpected !!
& the paneer tikka was some of the softest, freshest paneer I've ever had.
You can tell the food's made with care. No shortcuts. No nonsense.
Totally worth it-& I'm already craving it again.
