Review Summary

The Famous Cosmos is described as an old school diner with a warm, nostalgic counter vibe and a small town feel that makes guests want to linger. The atmosphere is casual and lively, with stools at the bar, friendly chatter, and a sense of community that makes regulars and first-timers feel welcome. The menu earns strong praise for generous portions and solid flavors, especially the Mish Mash, popular breakfast staples, and comforting burgers and potatoes, all at very good value. Coffee is consistently highlighted as top notch, and service is noted as attentive and efficient even when seating is limited. While space can be tight and the setup simple, patrons appreciate the unpretentious, no frills ambiance and the quick, tasty fare that brings them back year after year, underscoring Cosmos as a staple breakfast and diner spot in NDG.

If Anthony is cooking you cannot go wrong, he makes incredible burgers, his potatoes always hit, he has not missed once. I love this place, it's an NDG gem!!

The'creation sandwich' was delicious, & the potatoes were equally tasty. The staff was very kind, & I spent about two hours there. It felt very homey. I would definitely go back for the food!

It's a small venue, so you need to order inside. There's no table service. In a sense, it felt very Japanese because there were very limited seating options. Outdoor seating was right beside trash, which wasn't very pleasant.

I came here when I was in university.
Back then it was $10 for the Mish Mash, with the'Man of Grease' at the helm.

Today, the restaurant looks the same but the owner is different.
The food is still excellent (even though the Mist Mash is separated into its component omelette & potatoes. With some fork work, it can be mixed back into essentially the old Mist Mash form.)

Cosmos is a staple of NDG & the food is excellent. We'll always go back.

A small hole in the wall place. It was much smaller inside than I thought. The staff working greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. They were attentive & friendly. The food was good. Loved the mashed potatoes. Food came out quickly. Besides the place being old & needing some reno, it was pleasant experience. We walked out stuffed!

I ate at Cosmos almost every day for years during the late 90s. I gradually went less & less often over the years around the same time that Tony was working his way into retirement. When Tony died, I stopped going. When I heard someone had bought the place, I had mixed feelings. Could new people really keep the place that I knew so well alive? I'm very happy to say that they did. The woman at the grill (Tony's spot) would have made Tony proud. I ordered my usual & it was just as I remembered (though maybe a bit smaller portions as I used to benefit from regular privileges like a free 3rd egg). In any case, lovely experience. Same neighbourhood vide. Same great breakfast, & the famous potatoes, just as good (though missing the ash from Tony's cigarettes). I'll be back soon for another taste of the good ol' days!
