I've been here many times. As a Mexican, I can say that the food & portions are very good.
The service can be a bit slow, even if it is not crowed.
The Chilaquiles, quesadilla lakalaka, fajitas & sopes are my favorite dishes, & the drinks are huge!
For breakfast, brunch, or lunch, I don't mind eating here. For dinner, I definitely prefer to order takeout or Uber Eats, specially during the weekend, since it can get very crowed & noisy, which I personally don't like. However, other people seem to enjoy the loud music & the atmosphere.
Casualmente he solicitado 2 ocasiones para llevar y todo súper bien, el 22 de noviembre por mi aniversario propuse a mi amiga acudir allá a comer, en lo personal me gustó lo solicitado, mi amiga también feliz de su pozole (ella no es mexicana), pero nos pareció un poco incómodo que los camarones'al ajillo' estuvieran hechos muy al madrazo y además con cáscara cuando no son así, me apenó que mi amiga pasara ese contratiempo porque eran para su madre una persona mayor, pero en lo personal me incomodó el ruido excesivo y brusco que tenía una joven acomodando las sillas recién desocupadas y luego acomodando los vasos de una manera TAN BRUSCA Y RUIDOSA sin darse cuenta que eso incomoda para los que estamos comiendo en el restaurant, fueron muy amables y sólo sugeriría tener más cuidado con esos ruidos tan exagerados al hacer sus labores !
Lakalaka had a great, unique Mexican vibe tucked away right in Montreal. They had tons of food options including authentic Mexican dishes & fusion dishes. They had a huge cocktail menu offering sizes from a normal glass, to a comically large martini glass, all the way up to a huge self serve cylinder with a spout. They shot flights are served on home made airplane platters painted to match the restaurant
Not only was the food fairly priced the staff made you feel like you were part of the family, joking & bringing the party to you. A great vibe for a Friday night!
The service had always been good at both branches. But this time I get a lousy service from the girl with the slight colombian accent & black hair
She made a mistake at least twice with my dish, they made me wait since we arrived First to wait for the menu & then for someone to come & take my order. When she finally approached our table in a hostile way & without even saying hello, She told me that they didn't have what I wanted, so I ordered something else & again, they didn't have it either
In the end the food was very good but they make you feel bad from the moment you arrive. I don't recommend it anymore, I've always been a good customer of both restaurants but it's not worth paying almost 100 dollars for someone to treat you that way.
I don't know if the problem was something personal or if she in general works with a terrible attitude.

Slipped into Lakalala for a quick light lunch with my hubby, This is a delicious Mexican restaurant. Met the wonderful, kind & attentive server, Deborah. She was excellent in providing recommendations & we had the the best tacos, salsa, & beer. Hight quality food & super fun atmosphere! So much selections & fantastics food. Went there 4 or 5 times now across the past months so i can give a general review.
It gets fairly busy on end of the week evening & live singer or birthday here & there bring to a nice vibrant atmosphere.
Having tried most of their tacos & quesadillas, they do not dissapoint & im judging from the standpoint of someone who travel thru mexico often, canadian prices yes, but mexican quality.
I wish them to have a successful adventure here in Hochelaga & to keep those fair price to keep people coming.
PS : margaritas are great but beer could be a little bit more affordable (& people would be more prone to have a few during the meal)
Un resto de quartier avec une ambiance festive, un service extraordinaire & une cuisine typique. Tout y est! Ça mérite un 4 étoiles. Je vous le recommande si vous avez le goût de manger mexicain. ¡Un restaurante de barrio con un ambiente súper alegre, un servicio increíble y comida bien rica! ¡Tiene todo! Se merece un 4 estrellas. Se los recomiendo si les antoja comida mexicana.
I ordered the Gringas - they were epic! I crave mexican food so much but the options in Montréal are usually terrible. Except for this restaurant ! :) Highly recommended. Only small complaint- I wish they update their hours on Google Maps. I visited another day & some painting & rénovation was going on. But on Google Maps it said they were open.
