Stellina is one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal & my go-to for Italian cuisine. I usually go during lunches but one Saturday night, i took my boyfriend for dinner. As always, food was great, atmosphere & service from the kitchen, host, & commis waiter. Our server however, made our night slightly uncomfortable.
To put it politely, she was not exactly friendly & was quite cold & condescending towards us. No worries, figured it was probably just a busy night. So we ordered each our appetizers, mains, dessert, & drinks.
After spending a few hundred dollars & giving extra tip (because like i said, food & service from everyone else was great), you'd think you'd at least hear a thank you or have a good night. Nope. as soon as my card went through, she printed the receipt, turned around, & walked away.
Would it stop me from going back to this restaurant? Maybe not. But i would 100% refuse to be served by this specific waitress seeing as the table next to us received a different treatment. I still wonder why.View more
Excellent service par le personnel du Stellina, on ne se sent pas dans un resto typique de touriste au vieux port. Le menu est simple & petit, mais les plats sont délicieux, facile de partager pour goûter à plus. Les prix sont par contre extrêmement élevés pour des plats de pâtes.View more

If you are wondering if you should try Stellina, think no more - it's an Italian dining experience you do not want to miss. A perfect balance of Montreal class with a relaxed & welcoming flair, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, has attentive servers & an open air kitchen which allows you to see the visually stimulating dishes being prepared. I enjoyed the Insalata & the Spaghetti al Nero, with a side of the focaccia with prosciutto butter (you read that right). Delicious from start to finish. This was complemented by worthy cocktails. In terms of value, I have no regrets. Indeed, the only regret would have been to not try out Stellina.View more

Chef Simon is by far one of my best experience in Montreal. The food & service was way beyond what I expected & I come from this industry. Seriously you guys have a solid team. We had a special New Year's Eve 5-course meal that was excellent. Oysters, tuna & veal tartare, rabbit ragout, sirloin, tiramisu, & the table favorite a lobster ravioli that I'd recommend again & again. Finished off with a Limoncello & some espresso. J'ai adoré les plats, c'était incroyablement goûteux & bien réalisé, les pâtes rotollo fondantes a souhait, coup de coeur pour la tarte aux oignons & chèvre, feuilletée & moelleuse, une réussite ! Le service était parfait également! Seul point qui a gâché notre souper : il n'y a rien pour atténuer le son, la salle est extrêmement bruyante & nous avons dû hurler tout le long & répéter incessamment pour se comprendre. Je n'y retournerai pas à cause de ça, c'est désagréable de crier au lieu de parler normalement. C'est très dommage car si l'ambiance était un peu plus douce ce serait un restaurant extraordinaire!View more

My friend & I visited Stellina on Sunday night with a last minute reservation & the only seats available were at the bar, which offered the perfect view of the open kitchen. Watching the chefs work was a treat in itself. The kitchen was incredibly organized, with each dish prepared with such attention to detail that it was almost like watching a performance. You could see the professionalism in every plate they sent out. We started with the Funghi Saltimbocca antipasto. For our main dishes, we went with two pasta selections: Taglioni & Rigatoni alla Carbonara. The carbonara seemed to be a crowd favorite; we saw it coming out frequently & quickly understood why.
