About us
Steakhouse St-Charles offers a cozy and simple atmosphere that is distinguished by its warmth. It is renowned for its prime rib au jus, slowly cooked, covered with mustard and spices and served with its aromatic jus. Steakhouse St-Charles is also known for its many different fish tartare and red meats. Other menu items are tenderly grilled on charcoal and specialty choices offered by the house are vast: such as the filet mignon, chateaubriand & flambéed steak. The menu also includes delicious seafood, sesame crusted tuna, butterfly prawns, grilled shrimp, ribs and some of our sautéed pasta prepared the St. Charles' way. A typical evening at Steakhouse St-Charles consists of a delicate appetizer, a hearty meal, a light or sweet dessert and a coffee flambéed at your table. The service is attentive, friendly and warm. The wine list is complete and includes more than 75 choices, which contains a large selection of privately imported wines and a selection of wines with SAQ prices + $10. Service 10 on 10
Ambiance 7 on 10. Small & loud.
Entrée - Appetizers 10 on 10. Tasted Phily Crust Brie with cranberries & it was out of this world. Also had Coquille St Jacques & was pretty good also.
Main Dish - 8 on 10 Chateaubrian Special St Charles 16oz with 6 shirmps. HUGE plates so in terms of quantity excellent ratio. Chateaubriand meat was very good so the beef quality is excellent (10 on 10). Shrimps good size but overcooked & dry (5 on 10).
Wine selection - very good
dessert - I hade chocolate balls & my spouse strawberry cheese cake (7 on 10). Nothing special but not bad just not WOW.
So why 3 on 5 rating?
Loud place & the special Chateaubriand with shrimps very pricy for the quality. Quantity yes.
For 2, 2 drinks each, one appetizer each, 1 main meal each & 1 dessert each....$343 total bill including tip, way too pricy for what it is.
Next time I will go, Ill get get 1 entrée & 1 filet minion & 1 drink & thats it. dessert & seafood sides are not their specialilty & it spikes price for nothing
