Review Summary

Sofra Kabab has quickly gained a reputation for serving exceptional, authentic Turkish cuisine that leaves guests feeling like they have traveled directly to Turkey. Diners frequently praise the charcoal-grilled meats for being tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor, while the freshly baked bread and delicious desserts, especially the kunefe, receive consistent acclaim. Portions are notably generous, offering excellent value, and the atmosphere is described as warm, cozy, and welcoming. Despite being a popular spot that can get quite busy, the service is widely highlighted as being friendly, attentive, and professional, with many guests specifically noting the kindness and efficiency of the staff. While some diners have noted occasional challenges with space or seasoning consistency, the vast majority of experiences are highly positive, making this restaurant a standout destination for those craving high-quality, homemade Turkish flavors.

I went today to try this newly opened restaurant. The place looks clean, & the staff were polite, fast, & friendly. Service was smooth, & I was genuinely excited, thinking I might have finally found a good döner spot in Montreal.
I ordered the döner sandwich. Portions are very large - extremely generous. Looking around, all customers were getting big plates & sandwiches. Personally, I prefer quality over quantity, & unfortunately, this is where things went downhill.
The meat was not good: far too salty & lacking balance & depth of flavor. It didn't taste authentic or well-seasoned in a refined way. Quantity clearly comes before quality here.
There have been many Turkish restaurants opening in Montreal over the past couple of years, & sadly, most of them taste the same. The authentic flavors of Turkey are still missing. If this restaurant were in Turkey, it honestly wouldn't survive two weeks.
Overall, very disappointed despite the good service & clean environment.

The restaurant had a wonderful & welcoming atmosphere that immediately made us feel comfortable. The staff were extremely kind, polite, attentive, & truly professional, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious & full of flavor. The Adana kebab was outstanding & honestly the best kebab I have ever had - perfectly cooked, juicy, & incredibly flavorful.
The fresh, hot bread was amazing & paired beautifully with the food. The appetizers were excellent, especially the yogurt, which was unbelievably good & tasted very fresh & authentic. Everything felt carefully prepared & high quality.
Without a doubt, this is the best Turkish restaurant in Montreal. The combination of atmosphere, service, & food was exceptional. We will definitely be coming back again & again. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic & delicious Turkish cuisine.

I was looking for a Turkish restaurant & accidentally found this place. It seems quite new & had very good ratings, so I decided to give it a try.

When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't too busy, which made the experience even more pleasant. We ordered an Adana kebab, a cheese pide, & one lahmacun.

Before the main dishes arrived, the staff kindly brought us traditional Turkish bread, which was absolutely delicious, along with two small bowls - one with yogurt & another with a classic Turkish kebab side.

The food was incredibly tasty & well prepared. Everything reminded me of authentic restaurants in Istanbul. The chef was also a very kind & welcoming person.

I will definitely come back for these amazing dishes. Highly recommended!

All shawarma/donair chicken & meat were old & smelly. The chicken shawarma was bad. The lentil soap was pretty much water with no spices. Unfortunately it was NOT a great experience for us as it was NOT authentic Turkish food. Even the bathrooms did have soap to wash our hands. Only the charcoal bbq food was great.
