Slice + Soda is widely regarded as a standout destination in Old Montreal, celebrated for its massive, New York style pizza slices that feature a perfectly thin, crispy crust and high quality toppings. Many patrons praise the efficient service, the vibrant and retro atmosphere, and the unique selection of house made sodas that complement the meal. While the space can become quite crowded due to its popularity and limited seating, the overall experience is consistently described as affordable, delicious, and a must visit for both locals and tourists alike.
I accidentally stumbled upon this place while walking through Old Port - & oh man, what a find! The pizza slices here are absolutely gigantic. I'm talking'you need two hands & a little courage' kind of big. & they're not just big for the sake of it - they're delicious, crispy, cheesy, & loaded with flavor.
The vibe inside is just as impressive: super chill, great music, friendly staff, & that perfect mix of old-school charm & modern edge. I genuinely didn't expect to enjoy it this much, but it ended up being one of the best parts of my day.
If you're anywhere near Old Port & even slightly hungry, don't think twice. This spot is a gem.
Such a great little pit stop. Fresh hot pizza by the silce. They are massive! Priced great, lost of options of seats. Love the large communal table & window seats. Easy to navigate English or French.
We tried a Margherita pizza, a veggie pizza, fried potatoes, & sodas.
The fried potatoes were very spicy & not crispy.
The pizzas were good-one slice was enough for me.
They reheat the pizzas, but they're totally different from freshly made ones.
The sodas were so-so; I didn't feel they were worth $5.50.
This is a fantastic lunch spot , fast & fairly priced, because man this is some good pizza, the location is on the smaller side like much of the area but they are absolutely pumping out pizza there & it is VERY good. Light & airy crust , perfectly sauced plus the thin crust with the nicely toasted bottom. (I'm getting flashbacks typing this right now) I have to mention the cheese slice; Regardless of your opinion on slices of cheese pizza, this was an experience. Literally put me & the fiance into a primal frenzy & my first choice is the prosciutto slice! If you're walking by & you need a bite to eat . Do not hesitate !
On my first trip to Montreal, I ended up walking about 12.5 kilometers through the city, exploring & taking photos-so by the time I spotted Slice + Soda, I had definitely worked up an appetite. I originally wandered in thinking they served poutine (because, let's be real, poutine & pizza sounds like a dream combo), but once I realized they didn't, I stuck around anyway. The cool vibe inside & the sight of a grinning customer walking out with three oversized boxes of pizza was all the convincing I needed.
The staff were friendly, bilingual, & super efficient. Service was fast, & I was able to grab a spot just in time before a line started forming. Seating is very limited-just a few stools lining the wall & one communal table that could fit maybe 4-6 people, so timing your visit definitely helps.
The interior is visually fun, with movie stills of iconic characters eating pizza plastered along the walls, & the whole place has this stylish, street-food-meets-film-nerd charm. I ordered a pepperoni slice that was literally bigger than my head, a soda, & some waffle-style fries that were crispy, seasoned, & way better than I expected.
There was a ton of construction outside, so the pedestrian traffic was pretty filtered & narrow-otherwise I imagine the place would've been absolutely packed.
Sure, pizza might not be top of the list for most tourists visiting Montreal, but if you're after a quick, cheap, & genuinely tasty lunch, Slice + Soda checks all the boxes. I'd absolutely go back.
