The story of SHNOOPI begins with our family, steeped in the culinary heritage of the Mediterranean countries. We grew up in Egypt, travelling a lot around other countries with whom we share the crystal blue water filled Sea, such as Italy, Greece, Lebanon, France, etc. As long as we can remember, our cuisine has always been inspired by a lot of these countries’ flavors, mixing ingredients in untraditional ways, yet representing all cultures in a harmonious way. When creating SHNOOPI, we wanted to represent and honor that heritage, as well as share the food we grew up eating with our clients.
In fact, the name SHNOOPI stands for our family’s nickname. So don’t be surprised if you here us calling each other SHNOOPI in the kitchen!
Reviews consistently describe Shnoopi as a cozy, welcoming spot with a diverse roster of sandwiches and salads, many with housemade dressings and strong gluten-free options that delight diners with celiac or gluten-sensitive needs. Guests praise generous portions, fresh ingredients, and standout items like roast beef, chicken pesto, and lobster rolls, plus tasty soups and rice pudding. Service is often described as friendly and attentive, with a lively, homey atmosphere and a pleasant terrace; however a few visits note slower service, occasional inconsistency, and some dishes feeling pricey or not as seasoned. Overall, Shnoopi comes across as a distinctive Montreal staple for creative, well-made sandwiches and reliable gluten-free choices that many would return for.
Wonderful experience dining here at Shnoopi. It's a charming eatery that serves the legendary Shnoopi sandwich. I stopped by to see what the buzz was about since it was a hop & a skip away from my hotel.
The Shnoopi was fantastic! It has such unique flavours. Some sandwiches may fall apart (believe me, i've had my share), but by design this sandwich was the perfect size & well put together with fresh ingredients. 12/10 🫶 Their soup of the day was cream of zucchini. It was comforting & delicious. Lastly, the rice pudding was a heavenly treat not to be missed. Their wall decor has a music & art theme, which lends a nostalgic ambiance. I mostly appreciate the staff who were all very welcoming & showed warm hospitality throughout. 🙏 This was one of my favourite meals in Old Montreal. 😺

They don't have a kitchen so the food isn't the freshest. The sirloin sandwich & pesto sandwich were ok. Tasted like they used cooked beef & chicken from costco. Service was good, the atmosphere is ok. Felt a bit like a tourist trap, if you're okay with that & looking for a half-decent sandwich at a fair price, then you'll probably enjoy it.
Honestly very chill. Just a good standard sandwich. No bullshit. Good gluten free bread that doesn't fall apart! It was tasty & simple. My only thing not giving it 5 stars is because I do think $25 is a bit much just for the sandwich. Was 15 & an extra $3.50 for the gluten free bread & then tip on top makes the size of the meal not really worth the price. But the taste & service was good.
Quick, friendly service with a nice vibe. The price was very good. Very busy but no wait for a table. The sirloin sandwich was amazing, wasn't quite what I expected but totally blown away. Delicious. Meat was so tender. See you next time I'm in Montreal.
Great food, great service. We had the Shnoopi & the Calabrese sandwiches & the soupe de jour (lentil). All the food was great as was the friendly service! Would definitely recommend.
I stopped by Shnoopi yesterday for lunch & had a great experience. The cashier was super friendly, & although I was doing takeout, the wait was only about 10 minutes. Totally worth it-the sandwiches are amazing! I had the tuna sandwich & it was incredibly good-super filling & packed with toppings. My partner tried the minced beef sandwich & also really enjoyed it. We'll definitely be coming back!
It's so hard to find affordable, good, quality lunches nowadays. Shnoopi offers so many varieties from pasta, to sandwiches & salads it's so good & you can even get a drink if you'd like. The dinning room is perfect to disconnect from your laptop. 10/10 would recommend.

Super cute sandwich shop with a great salad selection too. Loved my sandwich; bread is to die for! Perfect thin crispy crust, nutty toasted sesame seeds, fluffy interior, & not a lot of bread - the ideal vehicle for the great ingredients in the sandwich. Lots of protein, a nice hearty sandwich that was well balanced & delicious. Sad to see the last bite eaten; can't wait to have another sandwich (tried the chicken tahini 10/10).
Stopped in here to get lunch to go for the family to go & the sandwiches are fantastic. Everyone was friendly & welcoming & helpful! Would highly recommend
My fiancée & I (fortunately) happened to stumble upon Shnoopi when searching for local sandwich shops in the Old Port, & we're so glad we did!
From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent-friendly, efficient, & fast without ever feeling rushed. The sandwiches were packed with flavor, made with high-quality ingredients, & the portions were generous. We also tried the soup of the day, which was a perfect complement to our meal-rich, comforting, & clearly made with care. Everything tasted fresh & well-balanced, making for a truly satisfying lunch.
To top it off, the team mentioned they're opening a sister restaurant, Shnoopa, a pasta bar in Griffintown, & we're already looking forward to checking it out. If Shnoopi is any indication, it's going to be amazing. If you're in the Old Port & craving a great sandwich, Shnoopi is definitely worth a visit!
