The story of SHNOOPI begins with our family, steeped in the culinary heritage of the Mediterranean countries. We grew up in Egypt, travelling a lot around other countries with whom we share the crystal blue water filled Sea, such as Italy, Greece, Lebanon, France, etc. As long as we can remember, our cuisine has always been inspired by a lot of these countries’ flavors, mixing ingredients in untraditional ways, yet representing all cultures in a harmonious way. When creating SHNOOPI, we wanted to represent and honor that heritage, as well as share the food we grew up eating with our clients.
In fact, the name SHNOOPI stands for our family’s nickname. So don’t be surprised if you here us calling each other SHNOOPI in the kitchen!
Shnoopi is described across reviews as a warm, family‑run sandwich and salad spot in Old Montreal with a focus on fresh ingredients, inventive combos, and strong gluten‑free options including what many consider the best gluten‑free bread and the ability to tailor sandwiches for allergies. Highlights include signature creations like the Shnoopi sandwich, chicken pesto, roast beef, and lobster rolls, plus popular soups and rice pudding, with a range of vegetarian and vegan choices. The service is repeatedly praised as friendly, attentive, and accommodating, with a welcoming atmosphere, a pleasant terrace, and quick, efficient dining. While most remarks are highly positive, a few reviews note occasional longer waits, variable seasoning or value, or inconsistent experiences; overall, Shnoopi is seen as a standout lunch spot in Montreal offering generous portions, quality ingredients, and reliable gluten‑free options for diners with celiac or gluten sensitivity.
Excellent sandwiches but price to value isn't obvious. We had the chicken pesto (excellent) & the roast beef (very tender roast beef with a well balanced Dijon mayonnaise). Dining room is bright & airy; service was quick & attentive. Overall solid meal but a bit overpriced.
They offer gluten-free sandwiches here! So delicious!!! This is probably one of the only sandwich places that I can order a gluten-free baguette. Thank you so much. The pesto chicken sandwich is the best!

We ordered chicken Tahini sandwich which was pretty good, & sufficient for 2 person. Also, cappuccino & hot chocolate was delicious. Friendly service & lovely ambience. Great place for hangout & brunch.
Very disappointing, we tried both restaurants & it was a fail for us. The pastas are a good portion but there's no seasoning, it tastes bland. The chicken sandwich was the worst part. The chicken looked like grocery precooked chicken, no taste…. We could not go beyond a bite. Cute place & nice staff though.
The soup of the day was a chicken cream soup, but it was the most basic version you can imagine, with way too many onions. The owners clearly put a lot of effort into the aesthetics of the place, but not much into the etiquette of the staff (the chef was chatting up the waitress right in front of customers) & not much into the food itself.
It's a place to go if you want an Instagram-worthy mid-meal, but not if you're looking for something genuinely satisfying.
I just had the creamy chicken soup, & it was hands down the best chicken soup I ever had. It came with 3 little pieces of bread as well, for a reasonable price.

I tried Shnoopi at their new Griffintown location & loved it. The food was fresh, full of flavour, & felt homemade. The Greek & Chicken Pesto salads were excellent, & the Seafood Shnoopi sandwich really stood out.
Friendly service, tasty food, & a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to stop by this location soon.
Cute little spot to grab a coffee with someone & have a small snack.
On the food side, nothing'wow,' just okay.
I had a chicken sandwich - it was so-so, nothing more.
The Caesar salad was fine, but again just okay. Maybe I should have tried their shrimp sandwich instead...
Sorry it took me so long to write this review! I was there late last year.
We absolutely loved Shnoopi.
As a Coeliac, I struggle to find places that can properly accommodate a full gluten free experience. Shnoopi had me covered. Not only does their gluten free bread TASTE LIKE ACTUAL DELICIOUS BREAD, the fillings were also delicious. Highly recommended.
What they do so well is focus on the basics, but make them as tasty as possible. I came back three days in a row on a trip to Montreal that lasted 6 days.
I ate the:
- Roast beef sandwich 10/10
- Chicken Tahini sandwich 10/10
- Goats cheese sandwich 10/10
- Hot Chocolate 50/10
- Tea 10/10
- Rice Pudding 100/10
What a gift to have found this place, & if I ever come back to Montreal, I will be back to Shnoopi's. It's not a place you can easily forget, just writing this review had me salivating.

Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I got the chicken tahini & it was amazing. The service was also fantastic cause I had a shellfish allergy & they were able to accommodate me! 5/5 would recommend to everyone
Love this place! Brand new, clean, friendly staff. Their location is amazing & they have a variety of sandwiches. We tried chicken tahini & camembert sandwiches. Both were delicious! Lattes are average but then we tried the riz au lait dessert: instant childhood memories unlocked!!!! Gotta try this place.

Got the Pasta of the Day with meatballs & a Pesto Chicken Salad, & was some of the best food. Incredibly nice staff, good music that wasn't too loud. Highly recommend!
Shocked by the high reviews of this place. Service is great but food is less than average. The salad left a bad taste in my mouth all afternoon.. They use vegetable oil instead of olive oil in the salads & their'grilled chicken' is precooked Costco chicken.. sandwich was not too bad, just average. Overall very disappointing experience
Food was delicious! We popped in here by chance & it did not disappoint. We had the shnoopi, the goat cheese, & the chicken & all of them hit the spot.
