Sésame offers a concept unique in its kind: an out of the ordinary variety of high quality Asian dishes to enjoy in a warm atmosphere.
From the Pad Thai to the General Tao poutine, or one of the various wok sautées, you can eat your meal on site or take it to go.
Additionally, Sésame offers a wide selection of loose teas, several privately imported wines, beers on tap, a wide selection of sake, but especially, a menu of exclusive Sésame cocktails.
Reviews consistently praise Sésame for delicious and varied Asian fusion dishes, with favorites like pad thai, general tao, dumplings, and poke bowls, plus original cocktails, all served with warm, attentive service. The atmosphere is described as stylish and inviting, with beautiful lighting and a lively yet comfortable vibe that fits well for a night out or pre show dining. Guests note friendly, professional staff, quick and efficient service, and generous portions that feel good value. The location and terrace are repeatedly mentioned as nice features, and the presentation and freshness of the ingredients are highlighted across visits. While a few notes mention busier nights bringing more noise or longer pacing, the overall impression is one of consistently high quality, great flavors, and a welcoming team that makes diners want to return.
SESAME was exactly what it said it was, an Asian fusion restaurant. I always wanted to try this place since it looked so chic on the outside. Walking into the restaurant, it was just that.
We ordered the salmon tartare for an appetizer, which was delicious & fresh. For main, I got the pad thai with tofu, & my partner got the orange chicken. I was craving Thai food earlier in the day, & this pad Thai was the best pad Thai I've had in a while.
It was so flavorful & had the right ratio of noodles to ingredients. I was stuffed by the time I finished, & I immediately recommended this place to someone who loves pad thai. The orange chicken, too, was so tender on the inside & so full of flavor on the outside. Paired with the rice & vegetables, it made a balanced meal.
Overall, I would come back for the pad thai. If I'm ever in the area craving Asian food again, I'm sure I'll be there.

I had the Korean fried Chicken. it was like eating Frozen pre-cooked fried Chicken from Costco that was warmed to a dry consistency. Yum. I think the rest of the food at the table was taken out of bags & containers & heated up. Not delicious. So disappointed. All the girls like the sweet slushie drinks.
WoW!
Plat savoureux!
Un peu cher quand même. 🤷?♀?mais très bon.

Sesame is located in a charming part of downtown Montreal (Quartier des Spectacles), making it a very convenient spot, especially if you're heading to a show at Place des Arts. The restaurant's decor has a stylish, White Lotus-like vibe that adds to the ambiance. The staff are friendly, & the menu is right up my alley - the food is very good & consistently enjoyable.
That said, there's one recurring issue. On two separate occasions, I made early dinner reservations specifically to have time for a leisurely meal before a show at Place des Arts. Both times, despite arriving early, the service was so slow that we had to skip the dessert & coffee included in our'Meal for Two' & rush out to make it to the performance. Even after letting the waitress know that we were short on time, the pace didn't really pick up. While the restaurant was busy, I do feel there's room for improvement when it comes to managing service flow, especially for guests who are clearly on a schedule.
Although we'd only been at our table for 75 minutes, & were finishing our drinks, the waitress asked us to leave'soon', because she needed the table. There was no-one waiting. We felt very uncomfortable after that, & this has never happened before. The waitress was bi-racial, with her hair tied back at her neck.

Endroit assez bien plaisant.
